Albergo Raffaello - Self Hotel

Location in the truest sense of the word “top” – uphill and just below the fortress. In the middle of the historical city and only steps away from pretty much all the sights and places you want to visit. The view from the room picture-book pretty, the room itself spacious and nicely furnished. All the personnel - without an exception - professional, very friendly and always helpful – and the owner Giulio Lonzi repeatedly went over and above the call of duty. He gave helpful advice on parking - literally impossible inside the city walls, but with a weekly “minipass” for the multi-storey car park reasonably priced and so convenient. He even called us, when he thought we were a bit late in arriving, to check if we were ok, then directed us to the right ticket office and arranged for a taxi to pick us up (even though you can get a short-term permit to take your car to the hotel and back to drop your luggage, you really don’t want to tackle those steep narrow streets, believe me). When my wife sprained her ankle while on a day trip, he directed us to the nearest emergency room and picked us up later himself, when we were stranded without a taxi in sight and her totally incapable of more than hopping on one leg. He helped me to drag/carry her up the last few metres from his car to the hotel and up to the room and … believe it or not, he managed to conjure up a pair of crutches for her before we had even started to wonder if and where we could get some. He then provided us with addresses of restaurants that would deliver meals to the hotel. The man repeatedly solved our problems, before we even realized we had one. He finally spent ages to find a wonderful restaurant for my birthday dinner – on a Sunday in October at the nearby Adriatic coast when the season there had practically ended and most restaurants were closed … To put it in a nutshell – staying in the Raffaello is like staying with a friend … a good friend! Thank you Giulio! We’ll be back!

An overpriced but conveniently located place to stay about 5 minutes from the main parking lot at the shopping center. (Only 10 euro a day for parking.) Dingy, dark and cramped, with sketchy Wi-Fi and AC. The breakfast was truly the most horrible meal I had in Italy.

In pieno centro storico, situato dietro la casa di Raffaello, a pochi passi da tutti i luoghi d’interesse. Appena entrati alla reception siamo stati avvolti da un piacevole profumo d’incenso. La camera, elegante, spaziosa, pulita, accogliente, confortevole con una bellissima vista sulla città vecchia, si vede anche il Palazzo Ducale. Al mattino siamo stati svegliati, come piace a noi, da un Alba meravigliosa, in un clima di pace e tranquillità. La colazione buona. L’hotel è raggiungibile in macchina per lo scarico valigie, noi abbiamo parcheggiato al parcheggio Santa Lucia porta numero tre e siamo andati a piedi, dopo aver varcato la Porta sempre dritto, si raggiunge facilmente con una camminata di pochi minuti. L’unica mancanza è quella del riscaldamento in bagno per i mesi invernali, comunque lasciando la porta aperta si scalda facilmente.

In questa città piccola e meravigliosa come Urbino, ci si aspetta accoglienza da parte delle strutture, noi qui non ci siamo trovati bene. La struttura sembrava fantasma, senza accoglienza e personale per tutto il giorno. Si sono approfittati con il prezzo per via delle festività , e ci può stare, prima ci hanno dato una Superior al prezzo di € 140 senza colazione, una volta presa la prenotazione ci hanno richiamato per disdire dicendo che era disponibile solo la DELUX a 180, un po’ contrariati dal gesto abbiamo comunque accettato , ma definire una normalissima stanza DELUX al costo di 180 euro è veramente esagerato. Stanza pulita e comoda… ribadisco che se qualcuno ci avesse accolto con un sorriso tutto il resto sarebbe passato in secondo piano.

Accoglienza inesistente, self check-in molto scomodo, all’aperto (freddo, pioggia, caldo non presi in considerazione), in salita/discesa (non sai se effettuare la procedura o tenere le valigie), staff poco cordiale, pulizia al minimo indispensabile. Stanza all’ingresso freddissima, impolverata ma grande. Hotel molto attento ai consumi, i corridoi freddi e bui, bagni non riscaldati. Ridicolo il self check-in con personale che però controlla anche quanti capelli hai in testa da telecamera, invece potrebbero effettuare il check-in all’interno accogliendo i clienti in maniera garbata ed educata. È un hotel, non un B&B, eppure conosco B&B molto migliori, anzi…

La posizione è davvero centralissima e vicino a tutto, in pieno centro cittadino e vicino anche al parcheggio auto. Superata l'ansia data dal totem di ingresso si entra un una hall davvero ben arredata e molto accogliente, anche se manca una presenza umana. La camera, al secondo piano, offre una romantica vista sul centro, ma anche un arredamento molto essenziale e forse da rimodernare (il telefono Sirio sul comodino avrebbe fatto la gioia di molti). La pulizia molto accurata, la colazione non molto assortita ma di buona qualità. Insomma un buon albergo, ma per una camera pagata 360 euro per due notti (seppure nel ponte dei Morti), mi aspettavo molto di più.
