Besshoonsen Nanjyo Ryokan

"We stayed a week at Nanjyo Ryokan and had a very pleasant stay in Bessho Onsen thanks in large part to Katsuki Ide, who helped us with our online reservation and made certain that we had a wonderful stay. Our Japanese style room was lovely: very spacious with a view of the (small) garden which you can visit on your way to the public baths. (Be sure to take advantage of the Shampoo Bar in the women’s bath.) The hotel is old and shows its age, but being aware of this beforehand we knew what to expect. There were marks and repairs on the walls, some strange heating pipes visible under the closet, not the cleanest floor to ceiling window, along with routine signs of wear; none of this was an issue and one might say it added to the charm. The many connected annexes and hallways meant that you could get lost trying to find your room if you don’t have a good sense of direction. The renovated lobby was comfortable, with books to browse and games to use, jazz playing during the day, and Charlie Chaplin silent movies at night (subtitles in Japanese plus background music). Coffee, tea and cocoa were available in the lobby all day with a wide selection of beautiful cups and saucers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent several days visiting the sites in Bessho Onsen. We also spent a morning at Shimonogo Ikushimatarushima Shrine which was very worthwhile. It is easily accessible by train or as one of your stops on the “Heritage Bus” which we took on another day. (¥500 each). We will definitely consider returning at some point for autumn foliage in Bessho Onsen."

Ryokan Tsuruya

"In October 2019, when the typhoon had a big impact on Nagano, I was planning to go from Kusatsu Onsen to Bessho Onsen, but it was canceled (I was offered a glass of wine this time). I rebooked this inn for the first time in 4 years. Reviews are mixed: black phone, old, cold, no hot water. The room is a Kyoto room, so it's small in a Kanto style, but the lintel, nagaoshi, and wall features are more elaborate than they look. I don't really like eating in my room. The food was a good amount and included matsutake mushrooms. The bar counter in the lobby has also been transformed into a reading area for the owner, and the garden is lush enough to remind you of the beauty of yesteryear. The hot water is good, but the water is sulfur and acidic, so the faucets here and there are broken, but that's just as the reviews say. There are two parking spaces in front of the inn, and the rest will probably be parked in the hot spring parking lot. I like the fact that it's a family-run business, so there's no annoying customer service, and the host and landlady's natural customer service."

Bessho Onsen Kashiwaya Honten

"Dieses Hotel befindet sich direkt neben dem Kitamuki Kannon-Tempel im Bessho Onsen-Bereich. Ein sehr schöner Ort mit weltbewohnenden und freundlichen Mitarbeitern. Der umliegende Ort ist ruhig, so dass Sie sich langsam und von der üblichen besetzten Stadtleben entspannen können. Einige Details von schönen Zimmerdesign und Einrichtungen, Valet Parkplatz bis zum servieren von Nachmittagssnacks und Kaffee/Tee machen die Reisenden auf der Straße sicher entspannt und komfortabel. Das Essen war auch ausgezeichnet - frisch, geschmackvoll und gut vorgestellt für Gäste, in privaten Speisenzimmern zu genießen. Insgesamt eine große Erfahrung und Aufenthalt."

"It was very clean and the food was delicious no matter what I received. The bath wasn't big at all, but it was clean and relaxing. I will visit you again next year."

Tamaya Ryokan

"It's close to the station, the spring water is pure, it flows freely, the food is excellent, the facilities are immaculately cleaned, and the staff are friendly. It's been a while since I've stayed at a lodging that's perfect. Even after hopping on the Shinkansen after work, I was able to take two days off a week and feel like I was on a three-day, two-night trip. I arrived around 9 p.m. with a no-dinner plan, and enjoyed the free-flowing hot spring water that was open all night. The next morning, breakfast was a delicious, no-nonsense ryokan breakfast. Nothing pre-made, everything was homemade, which was impressive. The public bath is closed during the day for cleaning, but I used the public bath at Bessho Onsen instead. I stayed multiple nights, and dinner on the second night was carefully prepared and delicious. There were many thoughtful touches, including a reusable shower bed, a large, movable towel rack, four bath towels, and the option to add yukata (I only had two for two days) (even when I stayed two nights somewhere, they only provided me with a yukata and one towel). I used the public bath 10 times, and it was always clean and well-maintained. Draft beer is also available for free at set times! The soft, free-flowing hot spring water has a faint sulfurous scent, but because it is weakly alkaline, your skin will remain smooth no matter how many times you bathe."

"Während der Lancao Festival war die Buchung der Website voll, so als ich direkt mit dem Hotel in Verbindung gesetzt wurde, war ich froh, ＾＾ (das ist eine Vorauszahlung ５％ Rabatt) Ich bin etwas früher gekommen, ich kann die Aufenthaltsverfahren bequem abwickeln. Der Hall und das Zimmer waren etwas unruhig, aber später fand ich es als Teil eines enthusiastischen Gästes. Es gab Gemüse und Zuckerpackungen, ich habe kein Mittagessen, also habe ich das Gute. Das Zimmer ist ein spezielles Zimmer mit einem offenen Grasbeer. Es ist sehr schön, vielleicht weil es gerade aktualisiert wurde. Ich kann den Norden vom Balkon sehen, die Landschaft ist sehr gut und die warme Geschmack ist auch sehr angenehm. (Es gibt auch einen offenen Pool in einem großen öffentlichen Pool) Dieses Essen ist ein Essen. Der Herr Zheng ist sehr komfortabel und der Boss kam zu mir zum Abendessen und sagte: "Hallo". Es ist beeindruckend, dass es wenige Hotels gibt, die das tun können, weil die nicht lange Speise, die im Voraus angekündigt wurde, sorgfältig berücksichtigt wurde. Es ist ein leckeres Essen, das lokale und Zeitgemüse zusammenfügt. Am Abend scheint es ein Festival zu haben, und es war immer heiß bis Mitte der Nacht. Ich kann die Uhren sowohl nachts als auch morgens hören, aber ich fühle mich nostalgisch, auch sie. Ich wurde in einem Hotel voller Begeisterung und Gastheiligkeit geheilt. Danke ☆"
