The Twin Lakes Inn

What a great find!… my wife and I stayed two nights in the Partner suite ( king bed super comfy, big room and big bathroom). They remodeled this from 2012 so now there are 7 rooms , not 14….. maybe because the restaurant needed the space which has awesome dinners….the inn is right across from Twin Lakes and we also took the interlaced boat tour across the lake which was beautiful. Twin lakes village is a small village but has hikers, biker, fishers, paddle-boarders, canoeists and more. We’ll be back. We live in Windsor colorado so after visiting Leadville it’s 20 minutes to Twin Lakes Inn, only 3 hours from home

Pros: - clean room - free parking Cons: - longer time to wait for check-in (Staff was busy with serving meals) - too expensive for what has been offered - restaurant closes at 08:00 p.m. (highlighted as in this area, there is no alternative for dinner) The Inn itself dates from 1879 which means that the rooms, in particular bathrooms, are smaller than what you expect today. Some rooms do even not have a bathroom/toilet for which reason you have to leave your room. On next morning, no staff was in the hotel (round about 08:30 a.m.) as the Inn was closed on this day. Just for information purposes: as this is a historic building, it has no elevator.

At the base of independence pass with amazing views all around. While this place may not be for everyone we absolutly loved our stay. It is an old Inn built back in the 1850's. It has been maintained beautifully but still has a rustic feel. There is some great history about the "working women" that used some of the rooms back in the day. The restaurant was amazing. Surprised how busy it is given that it is off the beaten path. Also strongly recommend the coffeeshop next door. It's about half way between Buena Vista and Leadville. So for a day of shopping in Leadville and then a day at hot springs in Buena Vista with relaxing mornings on the porch of the coffee shop and fine dining before bed it's just perfect. Highly recommend.

If you love history and rustic you will love this place. I am glad this building is saved. It has so much history. We stayed in two different rooms and both were great. One had a bath in the room and the other one had a bath down the hall. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was available anytime after 11:00 pm. They get it ready the night before which is great for early risers. Appreciated the fresh strawberries and kuerig coffee. You can dine there on certain days and the food and drinks are really good. There are large windows overlooking the lake. You can hike to the historic Interlaken home across the lake. Not much to the town but it is very memorable. The manager/part owner Andy makes it all happen. Super nice and helpful. It's one of the few cool places left where you can get a parking spot. Go there before it gets discovered.

What a comfy and cozy inn in a beautiful location! Andy the owner made sure we had everything we could possibly need. There was every kind of toiletry you could imagine available for our free use, even toothbrushes. I was with a large group of friends, some stayed in private bathroom rooms but I stayed in a room with the bathroom down the hall and it was not a big deal at all. Robes are provided in the rooms, too. We are a few meals in the Inn’s restaurant and couldn’t believe how delicious the food was, especially for a restart in a tiny town like Twin Lakes. I highly recommend stopping here for a couple of nights while traveling through Colorado. Great hikes and bike trails all over that take off right from the inn.

Inn is right across the street from Twin Lakes. Enjoyed dinner at a picnic table viewing the aspens and mountains, couldn't have had a better view! Our room (2 double beds) was clean and comfortable. Short walk down the hall was our large, clean, well supplied private bathroom - even had robes for two people. Staff was super friendly and helpful in recommending the best hike we've ever done. Wasn't planning on hiking Mount Elbert but after the description from the front desk personnel, we started out for a partial hike that morning. Hiking through the huge aspen stands was magical and the views of the surrounding mountains, lakes and aspen stands you have while hiking were amazing I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm visiting the area!
