Myself and a buddy stopped for a much needed drink whilst doing the Snowdonia 360 on Motorbikes. The atmosphere in the bar changed as we walked in (bear in mind he’s 50 and I’m 62 and we are decent and law abiding adults, not 1% and we were riding properly silenced “adventure” bikes) and the ‘locals’ stared at us. We waited for the Barman to finish serving the customer in front of us, when another local barfed in from behind us and ordered a Guinness in Welsh. He then proceeded to have a conversation with the barman, in Welsh, and we were totally ignored whilst he was served with a Whisky too. In the end we turned round and left, shocked by the way we were ignored and the Barstaff & locals were living up to the historical perception of the Welsh being so insular. In the end we stopped at LlanfairPG and the Penhros Arms and had a really refreshing drink and a wonderful conversation with the villagers who took the time to explain all about the village name and how to say it. Restored our faith in human nature.
