I haven't had much experience at all in backpackers but I was impressed with the Civic Guesthouse. The staff have mostly been very friendly, accomodating and helpful, and the general atmosphere really positive and safe which is awesome. They have a good cleaning routine so the place is in good condition and maintained really well. It's in a great location and has all the amenities/facilities you need. Noise management is handled really well with a nighttime quiet rule. One negative comment I will make is that there is not really a system at all for recyclable items. There is just one bin for recyclables such as drinks cans but aside from that all waste goes into the general bins/landfill and this is pretty soul-crushing since there are so many people coming and going and therefore so much waste disposed of in this way. It would be great to have an improved system for this to sort waste and educate people in the process to be aware of where they are getting rid of their waste. Otherwise, thank you Civic for a great backpacking experience!

Wir blieben 7 Nächte. Wenn der Rezeptor reserviert wurde, half uns ein Zimmer reservieren, das ruhig, privat und mit Blick auf das Zimmer war. Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel. Das Hotel liegt auf einem kleinen Hügel in der Nähe des Starts der 'Geitenspur' auf Castle Hill, und einen 15-minütigen Spaziergang zum CBD in einer Richtung, zum Strand in einer anderen Richtung und etwa 20 Minuten zum Fährterminal. Es gibt kostenfreie Parkplätze auf der Website.

Ich habe auf dem Grundstück geblieben, bevor ich es wieder vor allem auf die Lage gewählt habe. Ich erinnere mich, die Zimmer waren grundlegend, aber sauber, so dass ich mich entschieden habe, eine Exekutive Queen (renoviert) zu buchen. Nach der Inspektion hörten wir einige Bauern, die sich über die Sauberkeit ihres Zimmers beschweren. Sie sagten uns, sich umzudrehen und zu verlassen, wenn wir irgendeinen Sinn hatten. Was kann ich sagen, aber wir hätten ihnen zuhören sollen ... sagen, dass das Zimmer schmutzig wäre eine Unterbewertung - es war absolut ungutschmuggelhafte Farben auf dem Boden, schütteln, Rusten auf dem Kühlschrank und Handschuhe, Haar überall und das Schlimmste war ein gewisser Körperflüssigkeit auf dem Kopfschirm gewaschen ! Ich werde Sie Ihre Vorstellung für diese ein verwenden !! Das ist nicht, was Sie von einem vier-Sterne-Eigentum erwarten würden . Wir weigerten uns, in diesem Zimmer zu bleiben und nach einer 30-minütigen Wartezeit im Rezeption wurden wir zwei Zimmer gezeigt. Eine nicht besser, so ich verweigerte und das letzte Zimmer verfügbar war nur 5% besser .... Gerade als wir dachten, Townsville könnte keine überraschenden Angebote haben, gingen wir in das Rambutan Resort auf Flinders Street. Die Grundgeschossbar und die kleine Lobby leugnen, was wir bei der Ankunft auf der 3. Stock Unterkunftsstufe gefunden haben. Wir haben ein entspanntes italienisches Restaurant - Armati’s, fabulöse Bar, Dachpool, Poolside Cabanas umgeben von 3 Seiten von den Unterkunftssuiten. Unser Zimmer war geschmackvoll eingerichtet, etwas “Hamptons-Stil”, große komfortable Betten und während die Ensuite auf der kleinen Seite war, wurde dies mit einer übermäßig großzügigen Dusche ausgeglichen - sprachen 1.8m x 1m. Wir haben eine kleine Hindernis mit einem Wasserleck von eine Rohre im Badloch, aber die Verwaltung war schnell und effizient in ihrer Antwort und Sie konnten nicht wirklich mehr hoffen. Die einzige Sorge ist, dass mit seinem eigenen Pool, Bar und Restaurant an Ihrer Tür - ich meine wirklich an Ihrer Tür - Sie vielleicht keinen Grund haben zu verlassen und zu finden, dass Sie auf einigen der Sehenswürdigkeiten von Townsville verpasst haben. Und Townsville hat wirklich viel zu bieten. Aber das ist jetzt sicherlich meine gehen zu Unterkunft in Townsville.

Wir blieben hier als ein Stopp zwischen Luftschrank und Keller. Schöner Ort. Hatte eine Mikrowelle / Kühlschrank, so dass wir etwas Essen machen konnten. Räumiges Zimmer mit einem Sofa. Rezeptor war wunderschön. Würde empfehlen.

We completed a 2 night stay 8th-10th February 2023 and it was the absolute worst! We were moved 4x on the same floor within 2hrs or less of checking in. The attitude from the receptionist was unacceptable. Strongly believe after so many moves, an upgrade offer would have been nice. However, the receptionist made us feel as if we were an inconvenience even though it was the hotel’s fault for having faulty air-conditioning. None of the four rooms were getting cold. We were then offered 2 pedestal fans as if we were staying in a back packers accommodation. The receptionist who “helped” us was very rude. We had organised a late check out for 12pm. On the day of checking out, house keeping and the same receptionist with the attitude, kept coming to disturb us in the room alerting us that it was past check out. This kept happening right until 11:40am. Wifi does not work so my husband had to hot spot from his phone to the tv to access Netflix and Fox channels. Only good thing was room service. Our balcony was inaccessible due to rubble and water constantly coming from the construction work on the higher floors. Did notice a chuck of concrete from the balcony edge missing which did not look safe at all. Overall experience has definitely left a bad impression. Upon check out, manager email was requested and formal complaint is being sent. Do appreciate their small token of an apology by discounting room service bill by 20% for the such rudeness and incompetence of housekeeping and that particular receptionist. Customer service is an absolute must for us and this hotel failed miserably. Definitely take your money elsewhere.

Unser Zimmer war eine gute Größe. Sie konnten tatsächlich umlaufen. Badezimmer eine gute Größe, aber der Star der Show war das Bett und Kissen. Beste Königsgröße Bett in einem Hotel habe ich getroffen. Waschmaschine und Küche war sehr bequem. Die zentrale Lage machte die Dinge einfach.
