Chatuge Mountain Inn

had a nice comfortable stay at this hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted by Melissa. She is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. My room was very spacious and had a clean and comfortable bed. I loved the chairs outside the room to sit and grab a breath of fresh air. I very much enjoyed my stay here and am already looking forward to next time! Thank you Melissa!

There is not a lot of choices in this area. The inn is okay for an overnight, but because it located right off a main highway, it is noisy. The room was spacious and clean. The a/c system was also loud.

Overpriced is just one problem. We had 2 rooms...neither room had hot water so no showering could happen. When we called it to the manager's attention, we were rudely chastised for not coming to the office to ask that she turn on the hot water?? Really?? And even if there was hot water, I don't think I could have gotten into the shower because the white shower curtain was brown on the bottom....gross. And...all the rooms are labeled "NO SMOKING". The stench from smoke in one of our rooms was enough to choke you. We called this to the manager's attention and she said....."No one smokes in the rooms...we are a non-smoking property"....Really? The carpet in one of the rooms made the entire room smell musty. Overall, just not a good stay at all....way overpriced to begin with and wrap that up with the worst customer service ever...I'd say you'd be better off staying elsewhere.

I made a reservation online for one night’s stay. At the last minute, “life intervened” and I was unable to stay overnight as planned. I phoned the Inn, didn’t receive an answer and after a few rings, hung up. Assuming that the desk clerk was with a customer, I waited a few minutes, called again, no answer again but this time I waited until the answering machine clicked in. The message on the machine was snotty, rude and totally unwelcoming, informing me that I shouldn’t call, hang up, call again, etc., that hang ups would only cause delays. I left my message that I needed someone to call me to handle a cancellation and that it was for that night. Cancellation policy is that cancellations must be made by 6:00 PM, date of stay to avoid charges for the night. Note that my call was made in the morning hours of my planned night of stay. I received a return call from the inn at 6:30 PM, I was unavailable, no message was left for me, just a HANG UP. I know that I’m just one customer but I have to wonder, do they treat ALL customers in this manner? I have never stayed at this inn, nor will I EVER stay here. There is such a thing as common curtesy and I would suggest that they invest in a little of it. BTW, I did get my cancellation thru in time by going back to the website on which I made it, **********.

We stopped here close to be near some state parks to hike in on our way home after a week visiting family. We arrived early but were allowed into our room with our Scottish terrier. The room was clean. The shower was nice and hot. The check in process was nice and we were given good suggestions for restaurants in the area. The only issue we had was with the continental breakfast. The office wasn't open in the morning. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
