Casa Albelo do Gerês

A great hotel is a place you long to return to, and we did. The hosts and owners Ferdinand and Miguel welcome you not as merely a guest but as if you were a member of their family. Set in a splendid small village in the Geres Parklands their hotel has it all. Amazing rooms with comfortable beds and ample bathrooms, but if you want a truly unique experience book one of the two Bungalows that overlook the lake and are adjacent to the pool. Did I mention the pool is a heated infinity salt water pool The only word of caution the Bungalows they are not the best for those over 6 feet tall. If you want to get away from it all, you have the option to be without wifi in the Bungalows, allowing you to really unwind. The best part of their hotel is the food. Miguel is a I dare say a world class chef who will offer you finest house cured sausages, hams, meats that are farm to table raised in the village. Eggs fruits and veggies are plentiful and in season harvested from their gardens. If you are wise, you will take full board and enjoy the wide variety of items on the menu as well as daily specials. The restaurant is known as a destination, many travel from Braga and as far as Porto just to have lunch. Ferdinand and Miguel are not your only hosts, on many of the long treks on the trails adjacent to the hotel their two dogs accompanied us for the day. If you want to trek in this region both your hosts know the trails better then any app since in their youth they were shepherds for their families livestock. We have been guests twice, and even though it is a lengthy journey we vow to return every year or two and stay longer each time! This is destination that is a must, I just hope they save space for us when we return for a third time.

A Casa albelo do Gerês é um pequeno pedaço de paraíso. A casa é linda, acolhedora, limpa e os quartos têm uma paisagem de cortar a respiração de tão linda que é. A Fernanda e o Miguel são anfitriões perfeitos, gente simpática e de coração cheio, espelham a alma e a essenza das gentes do norte. Se andam à procura de sossego, natureza e paz, aqui estão no sítio certo. Outeiro é uma pequena aldeia que parece ter parado no tempo e que nos dá a possibilidade de conhecer a vida rural e mais pura, a vida de antigamente de Portugal, aquilo que quem mora na cidade já não sabe o que é. A Gastronomia destas paragens é divinal, e no restaurante da casa albelo come-se muito bem. O cabrito é excepcional!

É difícil descrever todas as qualidades que encontrei neste local, desde a qualidade do alojamento e instalações, à gastronomia, ao ambiente bucólico e genuíno desta pequena mas linda aldeia, até à relação amiga e quase familiar com os proprietários, Miguel e Fernanda, que são pessoas do mais simpático que podemos encontrar. Voltarei sempre que puder.

Mini férias em Agosto com tudo o que se podia pedir. Tranquilidade e uma vista incrível da barragem da Paradela, num ambiente acolhedor e familiar. Obrigada D. Fernanda e marido por tão boa receção e cuidado. Com certeza um destino a repetir.

Que estadia top !! A recepção excelente por parte da dona casa, o carinho com que fomos tratados não deixava margem para erro. Tudo impecável desde toalhas, ao bangalô que tem uma vista divinal. Vamos então ao estômago. Pequeno almoço com tudo que é necessário, e em abundância O almoço como se gosta, com produtos da região e de alta qualidade. Os petiscos então nem se fala, aqueles miúdos de porco estavam qualquer coisa de bom. O serviço foi de uma simplicidade e carinho como pouco se vê hoje em dia. Obrigado pelo miminho oferecido á minha esposa. OBRIGADO, e até um dia destes 🙏
