Kethla House

We stayed at Kethla House for new years eve with our dance group of 10 people. We were made so welcome by the owners, they went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The rooms are spotlessly clean and vary in size from compact to family. Breakfast, on new years morning, was lovely, well cooked to order. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Booked Kethla house for two nights midweek to see a show at the nearby theatre ,? What a amazing hotel? so clean and modern Rooms of top quality with comfortable bed and very tastefully decorated ,, good size room with a mini bar if you need it with fresh milk for coffee and tea ,, good security all round for front door and bedroom door ,, only 10 or 15 mins from sea front , Breakfast also fantastic the owner and his wife have done a great job making this a award winning guest house,, in Torquay

What a beautiful comfortable place to stay. Jonathan and Sadie were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very nice and more than enough to set us up for the day. A good idea that you order your breakfast the day before so its cooked ready for you when you come do at your chosen breakfast time. A wide selection of main dishes as well as juices cereal and yoghurts. The bedroom we had was room 6 and can I say was decorated to a high standard by Sadie who has a gift. The whole hotel was exceptionally clean throughout. Our room was on the road side but had double glazing. Would we stay again . Definitely and we would recommend. Jonathan and Sadie are so friendly and helpful.

We had a really lovely stay here, Jonathan and Sade are just the loveliest people and so friendly and welcoming. Our room was modern, beautiful and spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and the bed was so comfy and cosy. Breakfast was so good and again Jonathan and Sade made sure we had everything we needed and accommodated our needs perfectly. Nice stroll to the seafront and not too far, perfect if you don’t mind a little walk all though it is quite hilly (good workout for the legs though).

My husband and I have just returned from 10 days at this wonderful guest house. Sade and Jonathan are great hosts. Jonathan's breakfast are the best we've ever had and Sade made us very welcome and our spacious room was regually serviced. There is a fridge in every room with drinks and snacks in. We have been comming to kethla house for many years and we have already booked for next year

Sade and Jonathan were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Parking is around the back of the building with two spaces available, very tight squeeze. We all got out before my husband parked and then he climbed over to the passenger side to get out of the car. Sade helped us park and took some bags for us. If you have mobility issues you will need to find street parking (we couldn't find any). On arrival was asked to immediately choose breakfast for the next day and select time (only 8am or 9am available) and pay for the rooms prior to viewing. Breakfast was full English with coffee. Rooms had fridges with drinks in, payable on checking out. Trays of snacks also available in rooms, payable on checking out. Fresh milk provided for tea and coffee in the room. High quality shampoo, conditioner, soap provided. Very clean. Requested quiet room and it was, overlooking the bins! Full English breakfast was a little small but nicely cooked. Toast brought to table. Cereal and yogurt available. Good position for walking into the area - 10 mins to harbour. Travelled with friends and booked two double rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Sade very insistent that both rooms would be the same. Our room was very different to that of our friends and yet we paid the same. We were in Room 7. The room was very small, the bed was a small double (not double as booked or advertised), no snacks tray as advised. Fridge very full of drinks to purchase (no price list available) and struggled to fit the small fresh milk provided into it. Only two sticks of coffee and one teabag provided. Bathroom tiny, unable to get towel off rail as shower door opened onto toilet. Shower power was good. Nowhere for toiletries, not possible to do any form of make up. Room was very claustrophobic. Unable to use fan provided as too powerful for the room, very noisy and situated behind curtains! Had to put our travel bags next to door blocking our exit in case of fire as there was nowhere else they could go where we wouldn't trip over them in the night. Breakfast was good but coffee was very weak, cereal and yogurt available, no sign of pastries - worst coffee we have had; would have added more instant but it wasn't hot enough to mix in. We recognise that property is a premium in Torquay but after leaving the next day, our friends and ourselves discussed our rooms and realised the huge differences between the two and that the cost had been the same. Our friend emailed Sade and Jonathan raising the concern with them, not expecting any money back but just acknowledgement of disappointment - no reply as yet ....... Definitely won't use again.
