Hotel Playa Cambutal

This is a wonderful hotel in a remote beach on the Pacific coast of Panama. It’s far away from the hustle and bustle. It’s a long way to get there and the road on the last hour to the hotel is the only stretch with potholes The rest of the way was nicely paved and marked. The beach has dark gray volcanic sand and the surf is strong. It’s a paradise for surfers. We went there for the seclusion. Only has 10 rooms although 15 more rooms are being added. Nice pool, beautiful grounds. The restaurant is excellent with surprisingly high quality gourmet food that never disappointed. Service was excellent too. The owner stopped by one our table of the days we were there and gave us the load down on the renovations. Can’t say more positive things about this place and our experience there.

The room and all areas were clean. The people who attended to us were friendly. Some items on the menu were missing. The road to get to the hotel is not good, it is damaged in some areas. I liked the hotel and beach. I will visit in other occasion........................................................................................

Amazing staff and facilities! Always treated like family. The location is perfect for surf right out front or a hang by the pool. Food was always good and the beers always cold. I will always come back to this spot when in Cambutal and have been back many times before.

This hotel is quite literally perfect. We went for two nights ith our 6 year old and 3 year old and everyone had a great time! The rooms were comfortable and ours opened to a little balcony overlooking the yard and beach. We spent lots of time on the beach and when it got too hot, retreated back to the pool which was mostly shaded. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We will be back again soon!

This hotel is the center of the small Cambutal community and a very welcoming spot for tourists and locals alike. The beachfront is popular with surfers, and you can see many locals in the early morning and late afternoon with their families enjoying the waves and sand. The restaurant offers free wifi, is family friendly and is open to the public, so hotel guests and locals meet and enjoy the surprisingly good food and drinks offered by the well-trained staff. Tuesday is pizza night, with lively music and drinks at the beach bar to watch the sunset - and the whole community turns out to join in the fun. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the community is very respectful of the opportunity. The pool area is reserved for guests only, and offers a quiet retreat from the sun, either on a shady lounge chair or under the beautiful pergola shaded with bouganvilla. The grounds are lushly planted with local flora, and you will see many local birds and the occasional iguana. The 10 guest rooms are simply furnished but all have oceanfront views and balconies, where you can dry your wet clothes/ towels in the warm sun. Beds are comfortable and firm, towels are plentiful and thick, housekeeping is available daily and the staff is always willing to help. We stayed for 2 weeks and were treated more like family than guests. We will definitely be back!
