Castello Izzalini Todi Resort

Too warm! No air conditioning, no screens on windows and no fans in room. Could have left windows open to cool room but the bugs ate us alive. Must have a car. It's conviently located in the middle of the Umbria region. A one hour drive to Orvieto or Assissi two great towns to visit.

Other reviews mention that a car is necessary when staying at this "resort". That is very good advice - you must have a car. Castello Izzalini is not a resort, there are no resort features, and you will be charged 50 euro per person in the room as a resort fee! Anything you will want to do will require you to drive. Be prepared that the driving time will be much longer than you expect for the distance travelled. Orvieto is a key destination, it is only 36 km away, but it will take an hour to get there. Todi is 10 km (6 miles) from the resort, the roads are not great. Ten km commute took 20 minutes. We had a one bedroom unit. The apartment was quite nice and well stocked with items you would need to prepare meals, however the grocery store is a long commute. The thing that bothered us the most was the limit of 2 rolls of toilet paper - after that you are on your own!! Then there is the book with the price list of items in the unit - anything broken or disappeared and you will be charged. The views were really nice - not spectacular as they might have been if the location was indeed Todi. Parking is an issue, the locals are not exactly happy to have tourists near them - but they tolerate us. Todi was a terrific place to explore - we loved it. there are several good restaurants with beautiful views. We especially like the Pizza Caravor - go there. After giving it some thought, weighing the experience overall we would not go back. We will definitely return to central Italy, but will not stay at Izzalini. Unless you get a terrific rate that you cannot pass up, we suggest you look at other locations. Ciao!

Frustrated to book a “resort”, pay resort fees, and really end up in an air BnB. Call it what it is…!!! No midweek or daily cleaning. If you get new towels and sheet you pay extra. If you get your makeup on the only white towels provided you get charged. You take out and SORT your own trash. If trash is left behind you get charged. Mosquitos EVERYWHERE! Randomly one night the lights did not work in the building. Getting up four flights with no lights was NOT fun! And no food in walking distance with local restaurant closed that week.

Everthing was good, silent area, peaceful enviroment. Good decoration and utilities. Only sofa bed was not comfortable for sleeping. Definitly you need car because there are many nice places to visit.

The resort is in a wonderful location and is very nice and romantic. The apartments are well equipped and of a high standard. However, the apartments do not have balconies or terraces, and there is no air conditioning. The resort has neither a pool nor a garden where you can relax and refresh yourself. There is no public space either inside the resort or outside, and you can only eat in the small village restaurant next to the resort, which has limited capacity.

It is a real castle. A flat was as expected in an old building. Kitchen well equiped with everything neccessary. But a flat is very humid. We had two dehumidifiers switched on almost all the time. At least twice a day we had to empty the containers of 3-5 liters. We don't recommend the resort for people with breathing problems. Even our dog was coughing all the time. Otherwise a resort is in a small village accessible by bad roads. We visited a lot of places within the Umbria region. Mostly all were interesting. The nearest is Todi which we liked very much. Spent a lot of money in Deruta for famous ceramic plates. In one single word - we were satisfied.

The property is in great condition and in a quiet area. The room is well appointed for comfort and functionality. The front desk was fantastic in answering questions and solving an unexpected maintenance issue. The restaurant next to the property is not associated, but was a fantastic convenience for wonderful eats and an espresso to start the day.

We visited Castello Izzalini Resort in the Spring of 2018 and decided to return with our friends in Autumn to hopefully relive the many good memories. We were not disappointed. We were so happy to be greeted by Gianna again, the sweetest and most helpful person who arranged for us suites that were next to each other. She also provided information on best car rental in area, reserved a table at Kairos restaurant nearby and arranged a tour at an olive farm. We loved exploring the nearby towns and villages (Civita di Bagnoregio, Todi, Orvieto) and although the country roads bounce you around due to their poor condition, there is so little traffic that it’s just you, the road, and the spectacular scenery. Both 1 bedroom units were spacious and comfortable with everything we could ask for (big improvement on internet connection with a modem in each of our suites). Hope to visit again, thanks Gianna!

very nice place and people top friendly.a good place to visit great part of umbria, need a car and some patience for routes not always in good conditions.suggest to visit out of peak season for quietness, silence and peace
