Lazyjack Inn on Dogwood Harbor

Since my husband and I were taking the Chesapeake Bay Lighthouse tours with Capt. Mike Richards, in August and again in September, we stayed at the Lazy Jack which he and his lovely wife Carol run. The Inn is picturesque, clean, homey and a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Carol and Mike are warm and friendly hosts. After one of Carol's amazing breakfasts, you do not need lunch. There are great restaurant close by on Tilghmans Island or just 15 Min. away in the quaint town of St. Michaels. You will not regret staying at the Lazy Jack Inn.

For my birthday, my wife took me to the Lazy Jack Inn in Tilghman Island, MD, and both agree that this was the most wonderful B&B experience that we've ever had. Elements of the original inn remain, giving this a local, authentic feel, but the accommodations are anything but from the 1800's. The rooms are well appointed, the bed linens are fine, and every room is very comfortable. Mike and Carol, the owners, welcome you and offer the best of Tilghman Island hospitality, local insight, knowledge, advice, and wonderful breakfasts. The other guests were equally delightful, making the mealtime a time for conversation and rich stories. Our room faced east, overlooking the harbor and four working skipjacks, patent tongers, and hand tongers (all of which were frozen in), and it offered the best of Eastern Shore sunrises. Two chairs, this wonderful view, and an adjacent fireplace make this a wonderful retreat. The artwork throughout the house provides its own tour of the shore and its boats. Down the road toward Black Walnut Point, we spotted a young eagle with its fluffy feathers, and a female eagle--very full grown, during a walk. The sunset over the frozen bay was photo perfect and a great way to bring a day to a close. Tilghman Island isn't far from St. Michaels with its stores and street scape. Tilghman offers the quiet, peaceful, natural, no sidewalk world of a watermen's village. A block from the Lazy Jack is a country store with its Friday evening wine tasting. Worth the stop! What fun meeting the residents and hearing their stories. Restaurants are close by, too. Mike and Carol have been at this a while and do it well. They're both engaging, but give you space, and they do everything well.
