Sehr hübsche, kleine, sehr gepflegte Anlage hinter dem Wellenbrecher direkt am ruhigen Strand. Für uns die perfekte Oase jenseits des sehr belebten Varkalacliffs. Manager und Personal sind super freundlich und hilfsbereit, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und konnten spontan verlängern. Das Frühstück war lecker und vielseitig. Wir haben uns direkt im Hotel einen Roller gemietet und konnten so auch mal abends am Cliff essen gehen und schöne Ausflüge z. B. zu den Mangroven machen.(kl.Fussweg am Strand zum Cliff ca 20- 25 Min., abends kaum beleuchtet)

Wunderschöne Anlage am ruhigen und schönen Strand nördlich vom Hauptstrand. Ich rate jedem etwas abseits von Hauptstrand Varkala zu buchen, so wie hier im Maadathil cottage. *** kann am Strand in 20 min zu Fuß die Lokale vor Ort besuchen. Uns hat das Maadathil jedoch jeden Abend gereicht, da das Essen hervorragend war und die Unterkunft keinen Wunsch offen ließ. Wir hatten ein sehr großes wunderschönes Zimmer mit 2 verandas zum Lotusteich und Richtung Meer. Die Mitarbeiter und die Besitzer sind extrem freundlich und helfen bei jeder Frage. Danke an das komplette Team, wir sind erholt! 😇

Maadathil Cottages offers a truly tranquil and human-scale Varkala experience. Its biggest draw is the Location, which is superb for peace and quiet. It sits right on the soft sand of Odayam Beach, giving you almost private access and a much cleaner, calmer beach than the main Varkala Cliff. The downside is that getting to the main cliff (for the busy restaurants and shops) requires a 5-10 minute rickshaw ride. The overall Atmosphere is one of serenity and personalized care; the cottages are charmingly set in a green garden overlooking the ocean. Guests consistently rave about the exceptional Staff and host, noting their genuine warmth and helpfulness—they really make you feel welcome. Cleanliness is another high point; the cottages are generally described as spotless and well-maintained. The Restaurant and food are good—meals are fresh and delicious, with the breakfast often praised. However, the menu can be a bit more limited than what you’d find on the main cliff, and service can sometimes be slow, but this is usually accepted as the trade-off for fresh, peaceful dining. It's the perfect spot if you prioritize genuine relaxation, sea access, and personal hospitality over being in the center of the tourist buzz.

Staying at Maadathill cottages Varkala was outlet best decision . The ambience was so cozy that it was a very special babymoon. Thanks to Mr . Aslam - the best ever manager of Hotel industry . He was so courteous and joyful guy . And Karthik - thanks for enjoying the breakfast session . We had great talks Overall ambience - 10/10

Very peaceful location, caring staff, with clean, character-filled rooms and generous balconies. Breakfasts are bespoke, including very generous fruit and curd bowls, which were great for us, now on our 5th week of travelling in India as a family with our daughters aged 18 and 21. Loved it! Thank you to the staff for all your care and attention, especially for retrieving my sandal from the cheeky dogs!

it is a great beautiful place and highly recommended. definitely a fantastic place to relax. the people are very friendly and helpful. the cottage are close to the sea and in a beautiful garden. there is plenty of room to relax or sunbathe or read in the garden. the restaurant is very good. in short, highly recommended

I spent almost a month there and it was again lovely. It was my 3rd or 4th time there. The whole setup is small and thus very personal and the staff will do everything to help. Also to be mentioned: it is nice and quiet. I never much liked the fish there but now they have a chef who is actually capable of preparing a fish just with some pepper and salt and coriander and who will not drown it in masala. That is just some European thing but having such fresh fish it seems a crime to kill it off with some heavy curry sauce. They got in the morning some fresh crayfish and after preparation in the evening it had a nuttiness and slight sweetness I am craving here in Switzerland but will never get. However, it is up to the guests to have a word with the staff to relay their wishes as they cannot guess them. I would want to recommend their driver Anser/Ansar (sorry about that): not only is he very entertaining but he also always has some snippets of of information when driving with him (e.g. to Trivandrum or Cochin). Another point in their favour is that they also have always Indian guests. It would be impossible for me to stay in a ghetto-like Caucasians only place. In short another very good holiday which is to be repeated.

We had an amazing stay at Maadathil, the setting is perfect, we stayed in cottage on top floor which was incredible with breathtaking views. The staff are all very helpful and gave us excellent service. The manager is on hand every day to help with anything you need with a welcoming smile. We look forward to returning very soon.
