Newsham Grange Farm

What a lovely place to stay. Hot tub was amazing, surrounded by nature including an orchard. Could have stayed in it all day, staring up at the apple tree! Was a bit cold for the pool. Reeeeeally comfy bed and pillows, a big winner for us. Room was decorated very nicely. Nice breakfast and lovely host. Think we will defo be back. Thirsk birds of prey centre down the road is worth a visit too.

We booked this B&B for a weekend stay whilst visiting family. We were very impressed with the place. Sue is a wonderful host and does a great breakfast - everything you could wish for and great local produce. We stayed in the Snowy Owl room - it was immaculate and beautifully presented. We enjoyed relaxing in the little bar before retiring to the very comfy bed. It had a real homely feel - like 'home from home' (well, better than our home actually lol) and was so peaceful. Rich and I come to Thirsk a few times a year so we will definitely be staying here again (and I'll bring my swimsuit next time!!). Thanks Sue for making us feel so welcome :)

We stayed two nights as we were attending a family wedding nearby. Room was lovely, clean and well appointed. Sue was a great hostess helping us out with a dinner recommendation and cooking us fabulous breakfasts! Pool looked lovely but we didn’t get a chance to try it.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we had a wedding in the area and what a lovely spot it is. Sue is a fab host and her breakfast set up is great. We didn’t get round to using the hot tub or pool but they both looked good. Love the added touch of the bar area also! Thanks Sue!

Would recommend Sue’s B&B to anyone! Lovely peaceful place with great rooms, comfy bed and all immaculate. Delicious breakfast and Sue is such a great host. She also went out of her way to make a great stay for my boyfriend’s birthday and even decorated the bedroom with some bunting. Thanks for a great stay!

We really loved our stay here. We stayed in the kestrel room, which was a good size, comfy bed and good size on-suite. Breakfast was great, with plenty of choice. We used the hot tub on the Saturday evening which was lovely just to relax in the piece and quiet. Thirsk is only a 5min drive away and York is 20 mins by train. 10/10

What a lovely family run business. Owners are so lovely, friendly and welcoming but George is star of the show! Beds are super comfy and in such a lovely peaceful area. Rooms are exceptionally clean with all the facilities you need. Will defiantly be returning!

We had a one-night stayover at Newsham Grange Farm which I booked for me & the wife to have a child-free night away for her Birthday. I was looking for something fairly close to where we live that had a hot tub and did a good breakfast. We had a lovely stay, this is a fabulous property with a wonderful service. We had a bit of trouble finding the place as our sat nav took us to the wrong Newsham Grange Farm, but we did eventually find it and were welcomed by Sue at check-in shortly after 3pm. We walked in via the Bar, which is a very impressive feature. We had a drink here later before we went out for our meal. The farmhouse is very large and we were shown to our room (Kestrel's Rest) which was in the bottom half of the propety, with a prviate entrance / exit for the rooms in this area, the breakfast room was also here. On the way, we met George, Sue's dog who seemed to be the star of the show - he's gone through some surgery recenty so currenty recovering. I'm not really a fan of dogs but George was generally very friendly. Our stay was 2 days before Halloween and Sue was making up a number of pumpkins and dotting them around the property, this was a nice touch and made it feel very homely. My wife has never stayed in a B&B before so was quite surprised that we were actually staying in a room in someone's house, but we were made to feel very welcome by Sue and she was accommodating throughout the stay. We used the hot tub in the courtyard outside shortly after settling into the room. This is in a covered area which we were thankful for as it was a bit damp. This was a great feature and one of the reasons I booked this property. It was really nice having robes and slippers included. I would suggest the water could do with being changed as it didn't seem very fresh and was very heavy on the chlorine. 😉 We had booked for a meal at the local pub The King's Arms in Sandhutton - about a 5 min drive away. I've reviewed this separately, this pub came recommended, the food was very nice here and was very reasonably priced. Before we went out, we used the Bar, I poured my own pint and the wife had a G&T. You just make a note on the menu of what you had taken and this is added to your bill. This was a really nice touch and the Bar room had some great theming. The room was spacious and the bathroom quite large with a fast, hot shower that worked well. I slept really well. There wasn't a great phone signal in this location but there was a Wi-Fi you could connect to. The TV worked fine for the little we watched it. We'd asked for the latest possible breakfast so we could have a lie in, but we also stayed when the clocks went back so that meant we really did have a late breakfast, it was effectly 10:45 when we ate. 😁 The breakfast was superb, I chose an (almost) full English, plus there were cereals and make your own toast, with tea or coffee made up. My wife isn't really a fan of breakfast but it's my favourite meal of the day so I really enjoyed this.

We highly recommend Newsham Grange Farm B&B. We spent 4 days at the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and a perfect place to spread out and relax after a long day sightseeing. Sue, the proprietor, fed us wonderful breakfasts each morning and was incredibly accommodating and gracious. The location provides a nice central access point to sights in both the Dales and the Moors.
