Premier Inn Sunderland A19/A1231

We were greated at reception with a very warm welcome by Jack who couldn't do enough for us, he helped with advise of the local area and gave recommendations we were very impressed. The room was very clean as always and we both had a comfortable nights sleep, we will definitely return thank you.

We have stayed here several times while visiting family and it used to be pretty good, but it's rapidly going downhill. The hotel and restaurant are both desperately in need of a refit. The shower in our room - 116 - barely worked, just a trickle of water from the middle of the shower head, which was broken and couldn't be adjusted. The fan didn't work at all, but that isn't unusual, the last time we stayed (different room) it didn't work either. Presumably this is why people have to leave the bathroom door open, setting off the smoke alarm. WiFi as usual was poor, had to keep logging in. This happens in all Premier Inns, why? Had to ask for water glasses, not provided as standard anymore. On the plus side,the bed was comfortable and the room clean, the reception staff friendly and pleasant. We had a cooked breakfast, which was pretty awful. It was self service. Good quality food ruined by being cold, every single item was cold - sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms. The toaster toasted on one side only so the bread had to be put in again, and came out incinerated. The restaurant was a disgrace. Padded bench seats with the stuffing hanging out, furnishings grubby and in need of replacement. I don't think we'll be going back. What a pity no-one ever replies to these reviews, obviously they don't care.

Another excellent stay. We arrived weekend of 17th January for a swimming gala and were made to feel so welcome by the front of house team who were so kind. We requested a quiet room and that is exactly what we were given - although the entire hotel felt quiet anyway. Food and drink really good in the attached bar and the barstaff were amazing too even though it was so busy. Room clean beds comfy - really lovely experience thank you

Always great stay regular stay always stay at this hotel close to town and other amenities are within reach so thank you Sunderland I will see you All again soon next time I will stay a little more time the only thing I want is to chose a back room and would like to have movies and Netflix

Clean and warm. Plenty of hot water and a great powerful shower over a good sized bath. Large comfortable bed and spotless fresh bedding and towels. Nice shampoo/body wash included. Hairdryer in room. Rubber bath mat available at reception which was a must have for us older folk. Plenty of tea,coffee and milk in reception to take back to your room. Loved the fact that you could order from the restaurant/other food outlets and take your food up to your room. Stayed here before and would/will definitely stay here again.

Convenient location, good quality service. The hotel room was clean, nice and spacious. Breakfast offered with a wide variety of food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I use this hotel during my business trip, returning again, albeit Sunderland offers more hospitality options, this is my preferred place to stay whilst in Sunderland. I would recommend this Premier Inn without hesitation. Returning customer, Room 10
