Happy Wanderer Motel Bendigo Children Not Permitted over 18s Only

The motel owner/manager was very rude, unfriendly and unpleasant. Some basic things we enquired about when booking didn't actually exist. It was not possible for us to stay the night because the facilities they offered did not meet our special needs.

We are 2 women over 60 years of age and we booked a night's stay at The Happy Wanderer Motel in Bendigo. When we arrived we noted you couldnt park by the room. When we asked the motel owner/manager told us it was not possible to park by the room. We told him this was not negotiable for us and asked for a refund, that we'd find somewhere else to stay. He said this was not a good enough reason for a refund. He was very unpleasant and unhelpful. We had to leave before he called the police on us for complaining. Take care if you decide to stay there, stay on their good side or they turn nasty.

This is a great place to stay , beds are comfy , very clean , nice and quiet location , easy access and owner very accommodating, will definitely stay again, used for work commitments close to CBD , easy parking plenty seating in the outdoors areas

Ok. I’ve stayed here three times now but that was the last. I’ve been threatened with a visit as “they have my address “ and they’re also going to post my credit card details on the web, so yes I’ve had to cancel it. All because I wrote an honest review regarding after hours non service I got. I’ve never received text messages like the ones I got from this place. Do yourself a huge favour and book anywhere else as had been suggested by multiple other people. It’s such a shame as I really liked the place.

Well I have to say I was pretty apprehensive when I walked into this place. Difficult to find reception but it was ok. Super friendly daughter of owners. Front wall is all glass with two big doors which open up fully. Room is very good. Love, love, love the renovations. Bed was super comfortable. Very quiet location even with a train line behind. Do you ever notice when you go to plug in your computer or phone ( they’re always the ones with odd plugs) and even if you do find a plug, they won’t go in, well there’s no problem on either count here. This is an area of Bendigo I haven’t been before and on way here found a pub which looked pretty interesting with lots of people ( always a good sign) Tyson Reef Hotel. Excellent service atmosphere and food.

I booked in for the weekend with my husband who is a veteran and thought I would do the right thing and let the owner know that he has a service dog for his medical needs. I was very rudely and with some profanity told that She (owner) hates dogs infact loathes them and there was no *f....ing way that a dog was going to wipe its ***** on her carpet and after a couple more profranities she cancelled my booking and hung up I never even had a chance to say anything. My husband is a veteran who needs his service dog to help with his disabilities and his daily routine.
