The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm, and dry, and the shower was hot. But that's the best you can say. The room was tiny. In midtown Manhattan, it might not be surprising, but for a ski resort? Nowhere to put clothes - no closet, no chest of drawers. Nowhere to put ski equipment. You come in from a beautiful day on the slopes, and have to lean your dripping skis and boots against the wall, where they'll drip onto the little bit of hardwood floor that you have between the beds (there is no carpet, either). Aside from the bar, this place has nothing. No exercise room - not even a place to do some stretching. The walls are paper thin. The first two nights we got to listen to every word of the neighbors' conversations on one side of the room. The third night, we got to listen to the TV of the neighbors on the other side (not playing excessively loudly, but when there's no wall between you...). Those great reviews are complete fabrications - there's nothing Wonderful or Excellent about this place. You also have to wonder about the $50 charge for "incidentals". In a real hotel, where there is a mini-bar that stocked with liquor or snacks, it's understandable, but not at this place. At Outbound Stowe, there are absolutely no "incidentals" to be had. (The staff acknowledged that it was really just a damage deposit, and refunded it as soon as we checked out.)
