Crown Hotel - Stone (Near Stoke-On-Trent)

A cheap hotel, but you don't even get what you pay for. The room was ironically called a 'suite'. It was not. Just a standard room with en-suit shower/toilet. There was no soap/body gel - this was included in the hotel specification. Towels were clean, but there was no shower mat. The pull-cord for the shower-room light was filthy as was the shower tray. The toilet cistern cover was cracked and too small for the size of cistern. The shower controls had been 'modified' and were extremely difficult to adjust. At least the water pressure was good. There was rubbish in the cupboard beneath the sink. The carpet was filthy. The TV was merely set-dressing: it was not connected. It was very hot, but no fans were supplied or offered. In fact we saw staff once, at reception when we arrived.

The place is very dated. The shower was too hot with bits missing. The dust and dirt marked y cloths. The cleaners need re-training or even training. Walls need a lick of paint. Never again.

Fantastic location right in the centre of town which also has parking (you must register your car for free parking). My room was in the annex and was a bit dated. It had everything I needed for a 3 night stay though and was spacious although the bathroom was quite small. Rooms are not serviced and I’d not been left a spare toilet roll. When I went to get one from Reception, there didn’t appear to be a stock so I was given one taken from the public washroom. Also, the shower couldn’t be adjusted so was a constant, very hot, temperature. Plenty of places nearby for food and drinks. 

Comfortable stay, bathroom could’ve been cleaner and things are a bit run down but pleasant enough.

Hotel has been recently upgraded with excellent bathrooms and newly refurnished bedrooms. Never stayed in this part of U.K. - thriving street market /street food event once per month; sense of a ‘fight back’ and good on them. Worth a visit

Good parking and easy to find. There was a £100 deposit I had to pay which wasn’t mentioned when booking the hotel. The room was nice but the shower had no water pressure and made it difficult to use.
