Greenwoods Hotel & Spa

I will start with the positive bits, the grounds are amazing and clean the bar area is very luxury and relaxing, the spa was really good and our room was great, now for the negatives, the food in the restaurant was awful, had the ribeye steak and was so tough and full of gristle, was inedible, next morning breakfast was even worse, barly cooked bacon, more fat then meat, 2 very over cooked fried eggs and a strange flavoured sausage was also very tough, zero our of five for food, now our room, even though our room was very nice and luxury, the bathroom was disgusting the floor by the bath covered in limescale, the shower screen seal full of mold and limescale, I felt very dirty in that bathroom.

My husband and I stayed at Greenwood Hotel and Spa in Stock for one night on 5/7/24 for a night's accommodation and breakfast for £199. We watched tv in our room number 33 until about 10.00. There was an event going on in the function room practically opposite our room across a courtyard. The music wasn't an issue but people constantly congregating in the courtyard vaping and smoking, getting increasingly louder as time went on. It was a Prom but they should have been inside or at the back of the building away from the rooms and should have been asked to be respectful to other guests. They were that loud that they sounded as if they were actually in our room and the Windows were closed. At about 11.00 I rang Reception to enquire how long this would go on for as we were unable to sleep. They said midnight and a message would be left for the Manager to contact me about my complaint. I went downstairs at about 11.55 to speak to a Manager as the website states there is always one on the premises. At about 12.15 Gabon came over and said she was one of the Managers and could she help. I advised I wasn't happy about being allocated the room near the courtyard due to the noise and I didn't find it acceptable that we were not advised about this and given the opportunity to move to a quieter room for the money it had cost. She said it was a hotel and had to make money and the guests at the function had paid and had the right to enjoy themselves. Quite frankly I agree they are but not at my or anyone else's expense. I got the impression she didn't care about my complaint and she wasn't really listening and was not bothered. I said I wanted to speak to Mani, the Manager she then said he was dealing with an issue at the prom, very convenient, and would be a while. I said I would wait and she offered me a drink so I had a cup of tea. At about 12.45 Lauren came over to me and said Mani was tied up and wouldn't be able to see me. I said I wasn't impressed and again I found her attitude and customer service incredibly questionable. We finally went to sleep at about 2am both with a headache. In the morning we had breakfast which was gorgeous and the best part of our stay unfortunately. Even though reception said they would leave a note for a Manager, nobody contacted me. I find it deplorable that the management don't take customer service seriously and totally ignore matters as they are in the "too difficult box". Surely a hotel should offer the opportunity of a good night's sleep at a reasonable time otherwise all the bells and whistles make it pointless if you don't get a decent night's sleep. I wrote a complaint on 6/7/24 and have not received as much as an acknowledgement as of today's date. Avoid if you want to sleep in your room.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Staff were friendly and we loved the interior decor. The grounds were well kept and we enjoyed the views. We would go back in a flash and also recommend to others. The only disappointment was the buffet which was disappointing. But this wasn’t from the restaraunt.

We came to Greenwoods for a Christmas dinner in the restaurant on the 25 th December. I never write reviews but absolutely feel the team deserves that and more! Firstly the food was outstanding! It was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. No waiting and quick service. The environment was excellent and beautifully decorated to make it feel extra special! Hands down best meal and experience we have had to date! Well done Greenwoods !

Cheap and awful ! All our family went there for Christmas Day dinner ( carvery) , never again. The food was cheap and awful , poor choice, badly presented and not even hot, the only thing that was good about the experience was the children’s entertainment, he was extremely good. We could have gone to a Toby Carvery and had a better meal and saved the £100 per head, just a total waste of of money.

I attended Santa’s Tea Party at Orsett Hall last year, and while it was a wonderful experience, this year at Greenwoods Hotel and Spa completely surpassed all expectations! The new venue provided a truly magical atmosphere, with beautiful festive decor and a cozy, welcoming vibe that made the event feel extra special. The highlight of the day had to be the fantastic host, Joe Banana. He was absolutely brilliant – full of energy, charm, and charisma, keeping both kids and adults thoroughly entertained throughout the event. His ability to engage the little ones and get everyone into the festive spirit was second to none. A massive shoutout also goes to Mikyla, who was warm, attentive, and helped make the whole event run seamlessly. Together, they created a perfect balance of fun and festive cheer. Everything from the entertainment to the delicious tea party spread was spot on. Santa’s grotto was beautifully set up, making it a truly magical experience for the children – their faces lit up with excitement! I can’t recommend Santa’s Tea Party at Greenwoods enough. It’s clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into every detail, and the new venue has really elevated the experience. If you’re considering a festive treat for the family, this is a must-visit. Looking forward to seeing what next year brings!
