Welbeck Manor and Golf

Very dangerous shower, scalding hot to freezing without touching dial. Room scruffy but clean. However it was like sleeping in a corridor, vastly overpriced for what it was. Beds comfy and good quality linen bur a scruffy, grubby looking scatter cushion was second pillow. Some staff were friendly and welcoming, some definitely not. Had to hunt for someone to serve breakfast on first day, no fruit juice or toast although main was fine. Wouldn't stay there again or recommend it. When I reported the dangerous shower no refund offered.

We came here for an evening meal and to stay 1 night with breakfast. The hotel is in a lovely location. The food was amazing, especially the dressed crab cake. The staff were very friendly and hard working. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and would definitely visit again.

What a lovely way to spend a morning.... We visited Wellbeck Manor on Saturday for breakfast followed by a round of golf (9 holes). A lovely sunny morning. Booking was done via phone a couple of days before. Breakfast was in the dining room and we were shown to a lovely table by the window with nice views over the golf course and beyond. Breakfast service was fairly prompt... we weren't rushed and had enough time to eat then get ready for golf. We had cooked breakfast which was well presented and tasted nice. Food was very reasonably priced and came with tea or coffee included. Golf is a 9 hole course in the hotel grounds. 18 holes can be played by doing 2 loops off different tees. The course is fairly gentle on foot and an interesting layout. Overall I thought the golf course was in good condition however the greens were a bit 'fluffy' in places so putts were slow, maybe needing a shorter cut. That said one of the holes, 7th I think, had a very quick green! Layout of the course is good with some interesting holes... for example the 5th hole tee/drive to fairway then next shot to the green. 9th green very challenging on the side of a slope. Green fees were very reasonable, I mean very reasonable. And a nice touch that they honoured Blue Light discount for emergency services staff. Overall staff were very welcoming and helpful - we visited with my uncle who is considering joining as a member and I'd certainly come back for another round because it was very enjoyable. What we didn't realise before visiting is the history of Wellbeck Manor and it's links to Brunel. And for the eagle eyed golfer, all the golf hole names have likes to Brunel! Very nice.

My partner and I stayed at Welbeck Manor a couple of days before our wedding before heading over the venue. When we arrived, the lovely staff upgraded us to their bridal suite, which was a huge surprise and incredibly kind of them! The room was absolutely gorgeous - stunning fittings, a beautiful view across the golf course, and it felt incredibly luxurious. The hotel breakfast was also delicious! We’d definitely return, and 100% recommend Welbeck to anyone looking for a luxury countryside retreat with easy access to the moors, Plymouth, and nearby beaches.

We recently stayed overnight at Welbeck Manor and it was an unforgettable experience. The exceptional staff made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Our beautiful room was a perfect blend of comfort and luxury, with stunning decor and modern amenities. We also enjoyed a fabulous roast dinner that was both delicious and beautifully presented Every detail of our stay exceeded our expectations, and the impeccable service made it even more special. We highly recommend Welbeck Manor and look forward to returning.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in the Brunel Suite for our family. The rooms was large and well appointed and spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant serves great food, well cooked and presented. The hotel and golf course is obviously in transition from the past lack of investment, but given where it is now (very good) it can only get better, and we look forward to returning in the future.
