Glebe Farm B&B

We enjoyed a really great stay with Sheila and Tim at their B&B; a beautiful house in a charming location. Everything about our visit was fabulous and it’s hard to see how it could be improved. Our room was very spacious, well laid out and absolutely spotless and, most importantly, the enormous bed was so comfortable! Every morning a delicious breakfast was an absolute treat. We chose to have our breakfast at the same time as other guests which provided opportunities for great conversations with them and our hosts. Shelia and Tim often shared their extensive knowledge of the area giving us great ideas of places to visit and how to get there. There is nothing we can say to fault the Glebe Farm B&B and highly recommend it as a fabulous place to stay.

Who would stay in a chain hotel when you can have a place like this for a night or two? Glebe Farm is a five centuries' old thatched farmhouse, filled with ambience and character. From the tumbling roses and hanging wisteria outside to the antique furniture and oriental rugs inside, this is a real family home with photographs and memorabilia on display. Set in a picture postcard village overlooking a stream, Glebe Farm represents England at its finest. Expect two friendly Labradors to greet you and a warm welcome from hosts Tim and Sheila. Service is first class with superb breakfasts, often with home-made ingredients and fresh eggs from their own hens. Tim and Sheila have encyclopedic knowledge of the area and can recommend the best places to eat or visit and which roads to take. Tim will summon up 'Alexa' to give you an up-to-date local weather report. He will also keep you amused while Sheila cooks your breakfast to your exact specifications. Bedrooms are well-appointed with comfortable beds, good quality bed linen and towels. Bathrooms are modern - with showers that work properly - and the best complimentary toiletries we have found in our travels. The TV reception is good with plenty of channels and the WiFi works well. (Mobile signals in rural Devon, in general, can be hit and miss.) There is off-road parking through the property's gate. My husband is usually good at finding great places to stay. This time he excelled himself. We will be back.

Arrived with our family to the warmest of greetings from our wonderful hosts Tim and Sheila, showed us to our room, king sized bed, fluffy white towels, homemade shortbread, spotless Our Son and wife had stayed before, I could see why we had to go back! They went over and beyond to make our stay fantastic. Breakfast was amazing, all locally sourced products, top quality, homemade bread, homemade jams, fresh fruit salad, eggs from their own chickens, what more could you ask for You will not be disappointed if you chose to stay here❤️ thank you, for making our stay perfect! We will be back ❤️❤️

I have travelled a lot and never felt so motivated to write a review, but the Shepherds Hut is just beautiful and your hosts, Tim and Sheila are wonderful. We didn't arrive until well into the evening (the M5, ugh!) but despite the late hour, Tim came out to the second we arrived and greeted us like old friends. We were walked up to the hut where Tim showed us the amenities and provisions laid out for us (including Sheila's homemade raspberry jam - you could travel here just for the jam!) and walked us through the home comforts on offer including underfloor heating, a wood burning stove (with briquettes provided), a barbecue (with charcoal provided), fire pit, two sets of table and chairs (one set for eating at, one set for drinking at), combi oven, induction stove and fridge (with ice compartment). There was even some milk in the fridge for us. The shower room is compact (but I'm a big fella and there was plenty of room for me), with a heated towel rail. The bed is amazingly comfortable, although if you are shorter in stature, you may need a leg up to get in. But it's well worth it once you've made the ascent. The village itself is beautiful with a fantastic, dog friendly, pub serving delicious food and you're about 15minutes drive from Kingsbridge, arguably one of the nicest towns in South Devon. The hut is even better in real life than the photos depict, you can't photograph peace and serenity. Sitting out in the evening and being able to hear nothing but sheep and the small brook behind the hut is just amazing. We are delighted to have been the inaugural guests and we will be back.

We love South Hams and visit as frequently as possible. We have always tried to find the ideal place stay - We are looking for - great location, that little bit different, inviting and homely without being over familiar, dog friendly, a great pub in walking distance, superbly equipped, tastefully decorated, great shower, good internet, comfy big bed, crisp sheets, soft towels, friendly, approachable and genuinely nice people as hosts. We have managed to achieve a number of these but never all - until now. So thank you Glebe Farm my search is done!
