Big4 Launceston Holiday Park

We stayed in our tent at this Big4. It was disappointing. Tiny crowded kitchen area, one table, no dish soap or pots etc.and one small fridge. We drove to the kitchen area each time as so far away from our tent site. Barbecue area a long way from kitchen so not convenient. It didn’t light easily, an employee got it working for us. Highway traffic loud for tenters. Bathroom clean and modern. $59 is far too much to charge.

Very friendly and helpful team at the office. Bathrooms were very tidy as was the place in general. Kitchen upgrade in the planning stage and needs this. Bit of motorway noise but could put up with it. Easy to catch bus into town. Would stay there again to be in central city.

This is our second stay at Big4 Launceston, and they have always been so helpful and accommodating with our requests for our special needs daughter. We love their Tamar Villa, close to the kids playground. In the lead up to Christmas, our kids were delighted by the decorations around the park (including the Santa hats on the wombat statues). There's a cute scavenger hunt through the park for the kids as well - be sure to ask at the front desk! The villas are clean and well-equipped, and the laundry room has enough machines and dryers to ensure everyone can wash their things when needed. The park has been full each time we've visited, so there's always lots of friendly families to make new friends! Only a short drive to a handy IGA, and easy access to the highway to get in and out of Launnie!

We stayed on a concrete powered site. It was very close to the modern, very clean amenities block. We loved it here. Lady at reception was lovely and gaves us pamphlets for the area of Launceston. Highly recommend this park. Close to everything.

We loved our stay at this caravan park. for the following reasons: The bright, cheery reception we received on arrival - THANK YOU for making us feel so welcome and taking an interest in why we were in Tasmania The VERY clean, well appointed, comfortable cabin The layout of the park The gorgeous carved wombats with their square poo The view from our cabin The great amenities provided including the towels and face washers which were new, soft and clean. We stayed here during a really bad weather event in Tasmania. The cabin was really cosy, as was the bed when we lost power during the bad storm! Power was out all over southern Launceston. The cabin had emergency lighting which was very welcome. Thank you to everyone there.

It was easy to find the park and the staff at reception were lovely and provided us with park and local information. Once we were on our powered site, we were a little dismayed about the sound of the traffic (mostly the large freight lorries) from the nearby Midland Highway and were concerned about how loud it could be. As we had planned to stay four nights, we thought we would stay the first night to see how it went overnight. Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as we feared, and we did end up staying all four nights. We found that the stated “Walking Distance To The City & Gorge” was not quite ‘for us’ even though we are fit and had done a lot of walking in our previous two months around Tasmania. According to Google, it would have been a 2.5kms (@40mins) walk to the Cataract Gorge Information Centre and 3.6kms (52mins) to the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, which were two places we wanted to go, and not exactly picturesque roads. On the good side, taxis/ubers were not expensive and prompt. Both tourist sites were also excellent. The facilities were also excellent and the park itself well maintained and a lovely area around our campsite with distant views over Launceston. It was certainly a good place to stay and, taking into account the possible road noise, we would stay here again.
