Ein großartiger Ort zum Ausruhen, Entspannen oder Verabreden mit einem einzigartigen Blick auf den Douro. Die Aussicht ist ein Muss, obwohl der GPS-Zugang verwirrend ist, ebenso wie der Eingang zum Hotel - 2/3 Paare versuchten auch, den Eingang zu finden.
Das Essen war wunderbar und mit Stil (es sieht Gourmet aus, ist aber zufrieden zu stellen und mit der Raffinesse eines Kochs).
Was den Whirlpool und die Sauna betrifft, waren wir etwas enttäuscht. Ein Whirlpool mit nur 4 Spritzern für so viele Menschen reicht nicht aus.
Das Bett ließ auch zu wünschen übrig - es war nicht so bequem wie es aussah, aber es war recht geräumig.
Zum Zeitpunkt meines Besuchs war das Freibad natürlich geschlossen.
Die Nacht hat einen sehr angenehmen musikalischen Abend.

Como pontos positivos, o hotel conta com uma localização excepcional e quartos de qualidade com vistas sobre o rio.
Como pontos negativos, a classificação do hotel é claramente de 4 estrelas. O Turismo de Portugal deverá fazer uma nova avaliação pois a qualidade do restaurante, falra de formação da maioria do staff e lentidão e desinteresses pelos clientes fazem-no um hotel mediano. Relação custo beneficio muito má.
Sugestões de melhoria (se querem ser um hotel de 5 estrelas): ninguem acompanha os hospedes ao quarto, na piscina os clientes é que tem de abrir chapeus de sol e mover as espreguiçadeiras, restaurante para jantar muito mau: na comida e qualidade do staff. Ao pequeno almoço os clientes estão dotados ao abandono, acumulando loiça em cima da mesa.

This should be a really great hotel and there is much to like about it including the stunning views but it is let down by a number of annoying traits. First the positives. Great views of Douro river and the outside pool area is great ~ a heated outdoor infinity pool a welcome surprise. The restaurant for dinner was very good and the waiter was welcoming and the food very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ok but all of the ‘hot’ food was cold. The room was very comfortable ~ we had a junior suite ~ there were tea/coffee making facilities although no milk! I asked at reception and was told to contact room service or go to the bar. Reception was generally a bit frosty. We stayed for two nights and although the room was ‘serviced’ they did not replenish the tea bags or the bottle of water that was provided on the first night. The spa and leisure facilities are ok (massage was good) although for some reason you could swim in the exterior pool without a cap but needed a cap for the indoor pool. The showers in the leisure area had no shower gel in them. As I say this should be a great hotel.

While the staff was great , the food was somewhat limited as the main dining room menu never changed. Our rooms were spacious , clean and modern . The main problem was that the air conditioning worked only sporadically. Every day (sometimes twice a day) we reported that the A/C didn’t cool our rooms overnight. This lead to 4 adults in two rooms being tired each day. The lack of A/C was made worse by the fact that even though the windows opened there weren’t any screens to keep bugs out.

It was absolutely amazing stay that we had in Douro valley thanks to the Douro Royal valley Hotel&Spa, especially because our trip took place when it was mostly raining… luckily, me and my husband were able to use that time properly in the hotel’s spa, having massage, enjoying the time in the swimming pool, spending some time in sauna and even at the gym. Thanks to hotel’s facilities the trip was not a waste of time, we could rest actively, we also enjoyed very much the overall ambience of the hotel and taking care of the personell so that overall the hotel is a calm place to stay at. What caught us by surprise was absolutely stunning dinner- each out of 6 courses we had was prepared and served with such a mastery that we thought we are at the resturant with micheline star chef- chapeau bas to the Chef - your courses are absolute masterpiece and the best of the best we tried on our 2-week trip in Portugal. Thank you for this experience :)

The rooms were nice but front desk was not very welcoming, hotel decor seemed cold and plain. The restaurant was mediocre. Definitely not a 5 star. More like a 3 star. Was disappointed with our stay.

Had a stay at Douro Royal Valley and it turned out to be great. The suite was spacious with a super comfy bed, and the private garden offered a sweet river view. Waking up to the Douro River view was a highlight. The Palato D’Ouro restaurant served up solid Douro flavors, and the Ruby Bar had a laid-back vibe. Practical indulgence in the Douro's splendor. Fantastic experience.
