No complaints about our trip. Beautiful hotel, clean and comfortable with friendly staff and good food. Our room was spotless. We had a south facing room, which meant no sea view, but we had sun on the balcony for most of the day. The whole hotel was very clean. We were on half board, and the food was good. Breakfast was a typical continental buffet breakfast, with additional hot bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages, but the cold selection was brilliant (OK, I love cheese and salami anyway!) with cold meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, nuts, pastries, cakes as well as breads and rolls. Evening meal was 3 courses, and many of the dishes were 'traditional' Italian dishes. Starter usually had at least one pasta or risotto option, with the main course being meat, fish or seafood with potatoes and veg. The portions of the latter were a little small, but the starters were filling enough for it not to matter. Sweet usually had the option of cake type dish, ice cream or fresh fruit. Drinks were an optional extra, but they hotel has a good selection of wines as well as beers and soft drinks. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. On the couple of occasions we ate out in the evening, the local food was pretty reasonably priced for what we had (pizza and/or pasta), about what you'd expect to pay in the UK. The hotel is a bit of a walk from town - about 15 to 20 minutes we found, and, yes, it is on a hill, but we found the slope to be a steady climb rather than steep, so there wasn't a great deal of exertion, and neither of us are particularly fit. The approach to the hotel (3-5 minutes) is on a section of road that has no pavements, but we found the local drivers knew to avoid pedestrians and we never felt unsafe walking it. If you don't want to walk, there is a frequent bus service and taxis are available too. (The only occasion walking it became difficult was in a thunderstorm where it was akin to gorge walking!). Crossing the road at the hotel is difficult as it's a double junction, so I'd recommend crossing at the bus stop about 15 metres down the hill. We didn't use the pool or sun loungers as the hotel was a base for trips to Herculeaneum, Capri, Pompeii etc.
