Hotel de la Rive

Came with friends and booked 3 rooms. One room the water stopped working during the night and the fridge wasn’t working. In the morning the elevator wasn’t working so we all had to carry all our luggage down the stairs. The issue was in the way reception handled it. If they had offered a discount and apologized for the inconvenience we would have been ok with it but she said this happens in hotels and there was nothing she could do. We had to argue with her for a 10% discount then she only wanted to give it to 1 room which wasn’t even the room with the water problem. She also swore at one of us ladies “ do you want your “F ____in discount now “ Seriously never had that happen at a hotel before. The restaurant however was lovely, good food and top notch service.

I had booked this hotel, where we had stayed in the past for my husband, who drove down from Toronto for a funeral Saturday. Arrived at 3 pm. Hoped after a 6 1/2 hour drive I could check in early, but they said you could only check in at 4 pm, even if the room was ready. My husband had to go and wait in his truck for an hour - which is not very nice. Room was comfortable, but there was no hot water for his shower. Told front desk, they said "oh well". That is not good at all. Ate at the restaurant for dinner on Saturday - very nice meal. Also had breakfast Sunday morning before the service, it was also good.

This is one a very few choices for Sorel, and the results show it. High priced overnight for a very mediocre product. They no longer offer maid service for the rooms so be prepared to make your own bed and trot down to the front desk for a clean towel or a new roll of toilet paper…..and while the room was clean the dated and tired decorations leave one wanting for more. That said, it was quiet and our water view room (Room 428) provided a great show with non stop boat and ship traffic on the St Lawrence.

I have a terrible experience at this hotel. I was travelling with my two children and a dog I went to the hotel front desk and asked is this dog friendly hotel? He said yes. Then i told him, I want to a double bed room for one night. He asked me, how many adult and children? I told him one adult and two kids age 9 and 12. I told him i want a balcony view, i was there discuss about price of a night fee for a long while. We Findlay agreed a room 179 + tax per night with balcony. Then he gave me two cards/fobs. Then i walked my dog and my children into the assigned room, passing by the hallway, see other guests and hotel workers., we open our door and then dropped off our stuff and left to grab a dinner. By the time we come back. The front desk told me, because we have a dog, then he going to ask us to switch a room in basement. I told him,okie. But why? He said because the room on the second floor has carpet. I didn’t argue With him but followed his lead to the basement. I saw that room has only one bed. So i told him, i need a two bed room because i have two kids. He said i can stay in the room which i have that is second bedroom, but i need to pay $200 more. I told him that doesn’t make sense. I am willing to go to basement not paying $200. Because$200extra is way too much. That means i need for pay over 400 per night. This is a scam . If i go to basement room what is the fee then? He said still the same, you will still be charged for $200 extra, but you can stay on this room because the only room available right now at the basement is the single bed room I showed you. I demand to talk to a manger about this. He refused, he said he is only one can reach to manger but i cant because it is late, but according to him, the manger is still communicating with him at the moment but refuse to talk to me. I called the credit card company and left the hotel right away, returned his cards/fob, but he didn’t check in out. He refused, he said i will still be charged for the night I didn’t stay, because that is hotel policy. The next morning, i called in the hotel at 6am , i told the front guy , a new person, to check me out. Imagine, if I didn’t call back, he would charged me for multiple nights which I didn’t stay, he knew we left and wont never come back. I file a dispute for this transaction and my credit card specialist told me to call back to hotel manager, i did. There is couple hotel managers and one i spoken with kept mentioning this is hotel policy even if you didn’t stay. I told her, this wasn’t my intention not to stay, the front desk in your hotel made me leave because he said he going to charge me over $400 per night. I was travelling, finally got sometime to write down this story. Terrible experience. The case is not solved yet until today.

Very nice hotel right on the river. The staff at the restaurant was quite helpful in handling my special requests. I had a balcony overlooking the river and marina. I would stay here again. There is also a path along the river which seems pleasant for a walk.

Came here in the middle of winter to attend a local hockey game. We didn't have many choices as this is just about the only hotel in town. During the summer, this might be an excellent option as its right on the St.Lawrence Seaway, but on this evening, it was just plain cold! Oddly, we couldn't get the heat lowered in the room, so it was a warm evening trying to sleep. The hotel is nice, the rooms are nice. The winter price was stiff, but they got a monopoly going so I get it. No free breakfast, everything comes at a premium.

Dommage, pour avoir fait un séjour avant la vente de cette hôtel que je vente les mérites. lit confortable, chambre désuet pour leur $$$ odeur humidité dans les corridors plein tapis mal odorant. le personnel a l' accueil sympathique et courtois même chose pour le spa. Pour le déjeunée assiette généreuse et bon. mais épouvantable service... la jeune fille laissé seul avec un langage inapproprié et d'encadrement , des mouches en veut tu en voila. désolant même pas de gérant sur le plancher. vous devriez avoir la MAPAQ sur le dos.

Nous avons passé deux nuits à l'Hôtel de la Rive dans une suite avec vue sur le fleuve. Nous avions une chambre fermée, un réfrigérateur, une cafetière, un grand salon, deux télévisions et deux balcons. Le personnel est accueillant. Il n'y a pas de problème de stationnement.

Service à la clientèles inexistant. Check-In très long. Impossible d’avoir un café en soirée. On m’a dit qu’on avait dans notre chambre, un cup de café par client, par jour. Au restaurant pour le déjeuner, impossible d’avoir seulement un ordre de toasts, ma conjointe a du prendre un déjeuner complet et manger que les toasts. Chambre beaucoup trop cher vue le manque de services… À l’inscription on nous surcharge 250$ sur la carte de crédit et nous rembourse le lendemain. Ridicule… Ont se sentait à la garderie… La prochaine fois j’irai ailleurs et je ferai aussi cette recommandation à mes connaissances.
