we were passing through sweden en route to finland with friends, staying here one night only. i've rated lour stay as "good" but in fairness i think this hotel is better than "good" but also not "excellent". if you stay here over the summer months you're allowed fee access to their spa, which features dry and wet saunas, as well as spa baths - very well worth indulging in. the grounds really are beautiful - you're pretty much in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mother nature. there are walks to be had and a beautiful old oak tree nearby rumoured to be around 800 years old. whilst we were simply passing through, we did wish we could spend a few days there. as others have said, breakfast is bountiful. unfortunately we had mixed results at dinner. the food was delicious, but the service was very hit and miss, leaning more towards miss. food on the menu was available and then not available, as was champagne. we were brought and served the wrong bottle of wine and eventually given the wrong bill. there were other errors too but i'm not wanting to shame them as they were very nice people and mortified by the series of blunders. the problem lies with the prices they charge, and at those prices it's fair as diners to expect a better result. enough said. we didn't stay in the new accommodation so cannot comment on that. our room was a little small and pokey. there was no drain in the bathroom beyond the one in the shower, but with a half-open shower recess it was impossible to keep water off the bathroom floor. and with no drain the bathroom floor was almost one big puddle, for which we needed to sacrifice floor and hand towels. it's quite likely we'll never find ourselves in that part of sweden again, but should we ever be lucky enough to we certainly stay again and enjoy the serenity.
