Wir haben 4 wundervolle Tage im Kakslauttanen Arctic Iglu Resort, 120 km nördlich des Polarkreises verbracht. Anreise ab Frankfurt via Helsinki nach Ivalo. Ivalo ist der nördlichste Flughafen Finnlands. Von dort ging es 30 Minuten ins Hotel. Das Resort ist aufgeteilt in East Village und West Village und bietet Platz für 700 Gäste. Es gibt alle denkbaren Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten vom Zimmer, Eishotel, Glasiglu und diverse Blockhütten. Ich habe mich für eine 65qm grosse Blockhütte mit 2 Schlafzimmern, 2 Bädern, Küche, Wohnzimmer mit Kamin und Sauna entschieden, im Übernachtungspreis enthalten sind Frühstück und Abendessen. Auf dem riesigen Gelände gibt es mehrere Saunen, ein Planetarium, Aussichtsplattform (Iglutower), kleine Läden, Kunstgalerie und ein Restaurant. Unsere Hütte war urig und relativ sauber, in die Ecken schauen durfte man nicht, da fanden sich noch Haare der Vorbewohner und reichlich Staub. Aber Bad, Sauna und Küche waren sehr sauber. In der Küche gab es einen Herd mit 2 Platten, Töpfe, Geschirr, Gläser, Wasserkocher und löslichen Kaffee und Tee. Die Betten waren eher hart, ich hab jedoch gut geschlafen. Das Holz für den Kamin musste man extra bestellen, es kostet 35 Euro. Zimmerservice gab es nicht, war aber auch irgendwie verständlich bei dem Schnee und den weiten Wegen. Das Essen war eher schlecht, aber das wusste ich schon von diversen Erfahrungsberichten. Ich hatte mir reichlich Brot, Köse, S*****en, Wein und Knabberzeug mitgenommen, einmal haben wir uns Spaghetti Bolognaise gekocht. Zum Frühstück gab es immer die gleichen 3 Sorten Wurst, 2 Sorten Käse, hartgekochte kalte Eier, ungeniessbares künstliches Rührei, diverse Müsli und Brot. Kaffee und Saft als Konzentrat aus dem Automaten. Das Abendessen gab es in Buffettform mit 1 Fleischgericht, 1 Fischgericht und einmal Veggi. Dazu Suppe und Salat. Manchmal schmeckte was. Leider war das Essen nur lauwarm oder kalt. Man konnte extra 3 Menüs ordern (Elch, Rentier, Lachs), das wurde extra berechnet aber war lecker und heiss. Für Kinder gab es nichts, aber unser netter Kellner hat immer chicken nuggets, Poulet und Pommes gezaubert. Ich habe 1200 Euro pro Nacht gezahlt, aber wofür, ist mir ein Rätsel. Ich hatte diverse Ausflüge vorgebucht, wir waren mit dem Hundeschlitten unterwegs, mit dem Schneemobil, Eisfischen in Inari und zweimal nachts im Rentierschlitten zum Nordlichter suchen. Die Ausflüge waren hervorragend organisiert und haben Spass gemacht. Die Guides waren alle bemüht uns etwas bei zu bringen. Ich habe viel über Huskies, Rentiere und die Samis gelernt und natürlich Nordlichter gesehen. Wir waren 3 Erwachsene und 1 Kind, ich habe insgesamt 15000 Euro gezahlt. Nach Finnland und in diese Region würde ich jederzeit wieder fliegen, aber nicht in das Hotel. Es sei denn, das Essen würde sich ändern. We wanted a cabin to spend a few days in Luosto with the children and it was perfect. The location is incredible and the house is great. The only downside is that it has quite steep stairs and if you go with very young children you have to be careful.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 3 nights early December as part of the TUI package to Lapland. On-route to the hotel we stopped off to get our winter gear. Transfer around 1hour 30mins. The resort of Luosto has a few hotels, ski slope, souvenir shops and reasonable priced supermarket. The average cost for a glass of wine and beer is £10+ . Room: Very spacious, we had a double bed and sofa bed in another room. Sauna was an added bonus. If you wanted any housekeeping you just had to ask at the front desk. We stored our snow gear in the ground floor heated room which was handy. Location: The hotel was just a 5 minute walk to the ski slope. As a family of 3 we all had a 45 minute lesson for around £130. This is where you can also sledge and go tubing this cost us 20 euros for as long as you liked. I highly recommend this it was so much fun. There is also a nice restaurant/bar here. Staff: I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who were always helpful and friendly. Also small bar area and nice seats by the log fire. Restaurant: Lovely restaurant area and friendly staff. We were half board breakfast was a continental option with lots of choice including porridge. We were half board and the food was fresh and delicious. We didn’t have a choice it was just a set 3 course but luckily we are not fussy eaters. We were a bit disappointed that there was no children’s menu as there was no way my son would eat reindeer or fish soup. So we had a takeaway from a lovely restaurant just down the road called Puna Kettu. Here you could have lovely pizzas and fries. Trips: We had the taster sessions on the Saturday where you have a try of the reindeer ride, husky, snow mobile - I would say just around a few minutes but sometimes that is enough for the younger ones. This day was around -20 but lovely cabins to have a hot chocolate and warm up by the fire. When we went to see Santa this lasted under 60 seconds wasn’t personal and he looked very fake. So that aspect of it was very disappointing. We paid extra for the night snow mobile tour which was 3 hours. We stopped off in a hut half way through the journey to light a fire and to have berry juice. We are so glad we done the trip as we were so lucky to see the Northern Lights. We also paid for the husky ride which was 2 hours, this was a great trip again where you have the chance to meet the dogs and drive the sled. Again these were cold days around -20. On the return home we stopped off in Santa Village, lots of souvenir shops. I have rated the hotel a 4* due to there being no child menu at the hotel. I think they should offer fries at least as guests at the other hotels had a separate menu for children. We would love to return to Lapland but unfortunately it cost so much money. Well equipped spacious cottage, spacious enough for at least 5 people. Decent beds, however, for eight can be found. Two toilets. There were enough dishes, the bedding was of good quality. A small complaint about the quality of cleaning, the dust was by.

The location is perfect and easy to reach even without a car. Fast and uncomplicated communication. Everything present what it needs.
