B&B Il Senesino

This could have been a disaster. The day started in the bustling European ex-pat town of L'Alfas del Pi with a ride to the Alicante airport, where the Swissair flight to Zurich with our connection to Bologna was an hour late, making us grateful that we only had light carry-on for the now-10-minute connection. Flight to Bologna was a couple minutes early, but the Marconi express was down for the weekend with repair work, and the insufficient replacement buses (reminiscent of the last helicopters out of Saigon) were few and far between, making the 2-hour connection time for the train in Bologna Centrale more like 15' (and we were grateful!). Train to Firenze was ~5' late, but connection there was uneventful, and we arrived in Siena ~12 hours after leaving L'Alfas del Pi. Just as planned. After a little confusion, we found the escalators to the top of the hill (all but 2 were operational; don't know how people did it before, and hats off to the Florentines for conquering the city back in the day). The rain was a little annoying, but travelling light made it so much easier, and while the hosts had left for the night, the instructions they sent (and a video!) made entry to the building and then the facility (there was confusion about which room, but they were available by phone) straightforward. The room was beautiful and comfortable and quiet. No view to speak of, but Siena is full of views, and it was rainy and/or overcast much of the time we were there anyway. Breakfast was simple and mostly self-serve, but did not start until 8:30. Because I didn't reserve early enough, we had to relocate to their sister B&B, Casa Mastacchi, about 75m up the hill, but we were able to go directly to our room there with an escort and put our bags away for the day.

this is a very nice place. if I ever return to siena, I will stay here. the owners were lovely, and the location is superb, as is the coffee

Abbiamo soggiornato al Senesino per una notte con la ns famiglia:2 adulti e 2 ragazzi. L'accoglienza è stata molto cordiale e non ci sono stati intoppi con l'entrata nella zona Ztl il cui permesso è stato gestito dal l'host. La camera grande è ben arredata dispone di un letto matrimoniale a baldacchino e di un divano letto matrimoniale. Il bagno con una doccia ampia e moderna aveva anche il phon e prodotti da bagno davvero di qualità. Tutto molto pulito compresa la biancheria da bagno. La colazione poi avrebbe potuto far invidia ad un hotel 5 stelle da quanto la signora del Senesino ha organizzato / cucinato per gli ospiti! La location ha una posizione fantastica davvero a due passi dalla Piazza del Campo etc. Posto assolutamente da consigliare vivamente
