Customary high Brend standards of comfortable accommodation, good food, and an attentive and efficient staff team. We also valued and enjoyed being able to use the Spa/pool facilities at the Victoria next door, but were a little disappointed that the facilities - especially the changing rooms - felt somewhat cramped, and given the recent refurbishment little regard in terms of design, size of notices and colours of doors etc seems to have been given to the needs of anyone with sight impairment.

The food was excellent and well worth booking ahead. We dined with every attention to detail, including attentive staff and a proper meal. 'Proper' in the sense of how food should be done - side vegetables included, canapes in the bar beforehand, a delicious sorbet palate cleanser before the main course, top-up coffee afterwards. All of these things seem to be 'extras' everywhere else nowadays, but at The Belmont, they are standard. Of course, all of the starter, main course and desert options were top quality, with exquisite finishing touches. The bar has a beautiful view of the sea and the staff there are excellent too - always on hand for whatever you need. There is plenty of parking and the concierge is most helpful. We chose a small room, but there was still plenty of room for us and our clothes, despite bringing far more than we really needed! I was impressed with the furniture - 2 easy chairs, a wardrobe and plenty of drawer space. The bed was comfortable and the shower (and bath) excellent.

I have just paid my third consecutive visit to this beautiful hotel during the winter breaks offer, and each time it gets better and better! A lovely room, gorgeous food, attentive (but not overly) staff, and great value. Perfect for a relaxing break. I've stayed in several Sidmouth hotels, all lovely, but none to better the Belmont for me. That's why I'm looking forward to next time already!

The Belmont is always a special place. It wraps you up in 1962 and treats you well with old service standards yet is also perfectly maintained to high standards we expect today. It is just a nice, kind, friendly hotel in a perfect location…it is Sidmouth in essence and excellence. There is competition in other hotels but none is as special as The Belmont.

The hotel is an adult only hotel, and the average of the other residents must have been their 80s when we were there. Good service provided on arrival, but no porterage service available on departure.
