Super
I stayed with friends at the Harris House, that is part of The Great George. Let me start by saying that just based on staying at the Harris House, I am very confused how this is a 5 star hotel. It is just a run down house, that they added temporary A/C units to. I would rate the rooms/overall house condition 1 to 2 stars. They really should renovate the entire place. The toilet was already broken when we checked in. It took them over 2.5 days to finally put a temporary fix on the toilet. So for 2.5 days, every time we flushed the toilet, we had to reach into the bowl to manually close the valve and that toilet tank was disgusting to look at and reach into. The wifi barely works in the 3 upstairs bedrooms (constantly disconnects), and the kitchen really only comes with plates and cups, and not really anything to cook with. When we ran out of toilet paper, it took more than 4 hours for somebody to show up with toilet paper. Imagine if we actually ran out while on the toilet!!! Oh and the only phone in the house could never connect to the front desk. It normally wouldn't be a problem except for that I am traveling internationally and only purchased an esim...so every time I needed something, I needed to walk to the main hotel building. Even after informing multiple people about the broken phone, it was never fixed during my 3 night stay. After complaining many times about the various issues, Management came up with solutions that we weren't happy about. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are significantly cheaper accommodations in Charlottetown with better breakfast and better service. Also, if you have trouble with stairs, DO NOT book this house. The stairs are super small and I could see people injuring themselves on them.
This hotel is a big, beautiful building in a very busy area. It looks so attractive and is newer. All we ask is that a room be clean and comfortable. We felt the front desk clerk was very unfriendly and mechanical, never smiling to welcome us, just doing his job and handing us the key and information. Even though we know the hotel is newer, the carpet in our room was very worn. The bathroom, which should be the cleanest area of the room, was the worse. There was missing grout around the tub, and in places mold/ mildew was present. The tub/ shower was also very slippery, with a smooth surface on the bottom. The bathroom had an access panel for the plumbing which was rusty. The carpet in the hotel hallway was newer and still had a very strong chemical smell. The breakfast was a typical hotel fare, with mostly carbs and fake/ processed meats. Finally, though the location is convenient, the road by the hotel is very busy and you can only turn one way out of the exit to the hotel. If you want to go the other way, you have to go up and make a u turn or go very far around a block. Not convenient, not clean, not comfortable. We won't be back.
GGuest UserMy fiancé and I had such a great stay at your property last Thursday, June 22nd. we had landed in Charlottetown the night before as my fiancé is an Air Canada crew member and got into our room late. The next morning, we were heading out of the hotel to start out adventure in town when we were happily greeted by Luke. What can I say, he is such a ray of sunshine and his presence as we walked out of the elevator was known. He greeted us with a smile, with attentiveness and was ready to provide an impeccable service. I had asked him about a local map and suggestions and he happily assisted. I would like to say thank you to Luke for continuing to show that hospitality is still an elegant service and that he does it with refinery and elegance. I know people don't usually take the time to write comments anymore, but I do know an appreciation and thank you goes a long way. We will be recommending this hotel to family and friends when we tell them Charlottetown is a hidden gem that needs to be visited. I look forward to staying at your property again in the near future. Best of luck Luke!
This was a nice hotel for a family getaway. It’s typical family spot, with decent breakfast, pool, and parking. The rooms’ layout is nicely thought-out and we had a comfortable stay. The only complaints are about noise, though we had at least one big group through in a tour bus and a kids’ team staying at the hotel at the same time as our stay. The hotel location is decent too for touring via car and it’s a short drive to Charlottetown downtown/waterfront. If you’re worried about noise then I recommend staying in a more ‘adult’ or upscale place.
PPEKPEVThe property is a renovated motel The most recently renovated section is in conference Center . The “new”rooms are not large but are well designed for short stays . The staff are exceptionally kind & helpful . Laundry facilities are great to have access to . The breakfast is more than ample . Not gourmet - just like breakfast options at home . Tea & coffee around the clock . Fridges in room . Nice flower boxes & little patio areas to enjoy outdoors in warmer months . Complimentary use of good bicycles & helmets was very nice - good to cycle around Victoria Park . No elevators which those with mobility issues need to consider .
GGuest UserWe have been enjoying a family trip through Maine, New Brunswick, and PEI. This was our last stop and we were looking forward to staying at the Delta hotel in Charlottetown. We showed up early today and we were told our room was not ready yet. We specifically stated we did not want a room next to an elevator. One member in our group is very sensitive to elevator noise. When we showed up to check in three hours later, we found out we were very close to the elevators. I asked to be switched and was told no more rooms available. It appears the staff enjoys denying their guests any special requests. In this case, elevator noise is a very real issue. I am disappointed in the staff serving the front desk. They completely ignored our request and did not want to be bothered. There are so many rooms away from the elevator, yet this woman decided to place us as close to the elevators as possible. Very disappointed in this place.
My husband and I recently got married at the Rodd Charlottetown, and we loved our experience! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure the day went smoothly and all of our needs were met. The price for the services rendered was very reasonable, and the food was absolutely incredible. They helped make the day truly memorable!
