What a treat to arrive at such an impressive and palatial venue! All arrangments beforehand were extremely helpfully handled, including a recommendation for a local eatery, as no evening meal would be available on the evening I arrived. The room was splendid and comfortable, with a charming view of the hotel garden. The en-suite was generously-sized, and everything worked well. Although the fittings might be viewed as being a little tired, it suited me perfectly. The breakfast was taken in a typically elegant room in the hotel. Whilst slightly meagre in comparison to some other venues, it would be unrealistic to expect home-style breakfasts in a venue of these dimensions. Overall, a privelege to stay somewhere of such fascinating history, with such a unique style, and with such a helpful and committed staff team.

Booked six days in this wonderful old hotel. Once you accept it is an old building, and admire the rooms, gardens and artefacts it is an absolute find. Loved the atmosphere which the staff generated. Nothing was too much trouble. They had time for us, stopping to see what we had done that day, and making suggestions for the following day. They made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The breakfast was a good as any I have had anywhere. Lots of choice and freshly cooked to order. We found the bed warm, cosy and comfortable. Premier Inn it’s not, hotel with history and heart it is.

Had a beautiful Afternoon Tea with lots of goodies including, croissants, wraps, sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, cakes & lashings of tea. Peaceful ambience, service with a smile & every need catered for - even took a doggy bag home. Recommended.

This hotel was a fatastic place to stay. Everything was first class from the meals to the very pleasant staff . We shall definitely be back for another session next year. We come up to see Wen Carnival each year and meet other people in our family who have moved to Wen from Gloucestershire.

Delicious afternoon tea at The Old Rectory. Lovely attentive, polite, service. All the food served was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. We were also offered extra tea and coffee. All areas downstairs were comfortable and welcoming. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful hotel and grounds with 5 star service. Natalie checked us in, and nothing was too much trouble. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. We stayed in room 16, The Morson Suite which had a lovely spa bath. It was a pleasure to sit and relax with a drink in The Drawing Room. There was no full food menu in the evening, but they offered light bites such as soup and paninis. There was an option to get food delivered and they would provide plates, cutlery and napkins. Highly recommended for a quiet, quaint traditional English Country House stay.

Fantastic small country hotel! Staff are incredibly welcoming & attentive. The breakfast at The Old Rectory is delicious, excellent choices & plentiful. I find The Old Rectory has a calming charm about it, you’ll leave feeling refreshed. I’d highly recommend staying here.

This small hotel is an absolute gem. The inside is like walking into a Jane Austen set. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast is wonderful. Everything about the stay we had was excellent and we will definitely return. If you are wanting to visit Shrewsbury (only 6 miles away) but want a really pleasant stay out of town, this is worth every penny.

We hired a room for a 90th birthday party. Staff were fantastic. Very helpful. We enjoyed an afternoon tea which was delicious and staff were attentive all afternoon. Highly recommended. Would definitely return
