Sadly very disappointing. Stayed here as a base for walking the Y3P - the town is really lovely, and it's in a brilliant location for accessing the hike (and lots of other beautiful countryside). The hotel, though, was a let down. Firstly, the staff I encountered were all really lovely and friendly - so that's definitely a positive. The bed was comfy, and the bedding was really good too. It's the decor and facilities that are lacking. While my room was spacious, it was SO tired looking - paint peeling off walls, remnants of mould on the bathroom walls, only one lightbulb working etc. It was also absolutely boiling, with no way of controlling temperature other than to open the windows wide and keep them that way. I did have a kettle with tea, coffee, and some little biscuits, which were welcome. The shower was something of a trickle and, while the bathroom was clean, the sad decor really overshadowed it. Little things like pictures being askew on the walls, and a dingy looking brown carpet just gave an overall feel that was somewhat depressing. We asked if there was any chance of a light continental breakfast being left available for the morning, as we were off early on our hike (as I iamgine a lot of people are, bearing in mind the location), and were met with blank looks and a 'not really'. Tried to book a table for dinner before we arrived, but the chef had just resigned, so they couldn't serve food. Friends stayed at a different place about a mile away - paid less, and got beautiful rooms, powerful showers, and a hearty breakfast left out for them :( With some TLC, this place could be epic, but sadly there is still some way to go.
