Yardarm Motel

Having debated between 3 in the area Yardarm distinguished itself by offering a continental breakfast. The more I read, the more there was to like. Rick was kindly welcoming and where I’d been playing a “beat Booking.Com’s rate” elsewhere, Yardarm’s webpage clearly showed the $ advantage of booking directly. The rate was the best-valued stay of our 6 in Maine. The bed was comfortable, our room was quiet despite windows that didn’t QUITE close, water was hot and water pressure strong and there were lights on both sides of the bed. Loved the breakfast room and the breakfast offerings.

Stayed five weekday nights. Their information on the website accurately described amenities. Overall a very positive experience as a base for exploring mid coast day trips. Pros: Right off route 1 so centrally located on the primary tourism highway. Room with fridge and microwave so you can enjoy leftovers for lunch or happy hour treats. Outdoor seating available. Comfortable beds. Homemade baked goods complement breakfast items. TV app enabled. Coded door lock great item. Cons: Like other vintage roadside inns outside lights stay on all night. Blackout curtains do a good job but not perfect. If sensitive to light while sleeping bring a sleep mask. Be aware coffee service is only available for a limited period in the AM. Dunkin Donuts across the road if needed.

My husband, 2 dogs & myself had a fabulous 7 nights at Yardarm. We can’t say enough good about our stay. The owners were accommodating, interesting to talk to & nice to have on site. The fresh baked muffins or bread were yummy & such a treat. The room was spacious, clean & adequate for us. The housekeeping staff was incredible & checked with us, if we saw them, to our needs. If you are looking for a five star, all amenities chain hotel, this is not for you. But if you want a great place for a good value, make reservations here.

There is a fine line between vintage and run down. When we arrived, another couple pulled in and told us they stayed here on their honeymoon 60 years ago. I have a hunch the inn has not undergone any major renovations since then! First I will focus on the positive things about the inn. We had plenty of hot water in the shower, the toilet paper was soft, the tv worked fine, and the bed smelled clean and was comfortable. The breakfast included store bought baked goods, cereal, yogurt, and they all agreed very good coffee. The inn was in a great location close to Acadia NP and other attractions. Now having said all that, let’s focus on what was bad. When we walked in the room, the smell was horrible! The carpet was filthy which was probably what smelled. Everything was damp! The bathroom window was open about about 5 inches and would not budge. My husband placed his shirt in the gap so no one could see in. None of the floors were level. There were 2 electrical outlets on either side of the bed but neither worked. Our friend couldn’t use his CPAC because of no working outlets near the bed. On our last night, the refrigerator quit working so my husband rigged up an extension cord and my charging block to keep it running. Picture the extension cord running across the bathroom door! We didn’t use the microwave. Now you might wonder why we didn’t leave…we were past the cancellation deadline and we looked for something else but there was nothing available in the area. We laughed about the luxurious Yardarm Inn for the rest of the trip! We survived but we won’t be back and we do not recommend this inn.

Gem of an accommodation in Searsport. Love the Yardarm Motel. It has a real Maine feel. Owners are great, on location and take much pride in offering their accommodations. Rooms are super clean, consistent excellent service, quaint spot, very comfortable beds, frig, microwave, air conditioner, and screened windows that open for fresh air. There are chairs set up with a fire pit on the beautiful front lawn. Also badminton net set up. Each room has two chairs and a small table set up on the porch next to the door of your room. I have stayed here numerous of times and will be back again.

Renovated 1950s roadside motel. I thought this was a great little stopover. The room had what I needed: updated bathroom, comfy bed, mini fridge, microwave. The one thing I was a little disappointed by was the lack of protein at breakfast. They just had muffins, cereal, fruit and yogurt. This motel isn’t for families, though. Great for singles or very cuddly, active couples because they only have 1 full size bed per room. (I suppose a parent-child duo could also share the full-size bed). I don’t recall if they’re pet friendly, but no smoking allowed in rooms.
