The Wheatsheaf Hotel and Restaurant

The food was excellent and really exceeded our expectations. The staff is fantastic, very professional and fast wirh their service. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We stayed for one night on the way north and it was a gorgeous place to stop.

We booked into the restaurant for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! The food and service were superb within excellent menu! Did find the portions were quite large but so well prepared, cooked and presented. A nice touch was the sample of homemade bread.

Enjoyed a delicious 'pie and a pint' meal at this cosy place. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The steak and ale pie was the BEST EVER with filling and pastry to die for. My husband very much enjoyed his fish pie too, full of scrumptious cod and salmon with mashed potato. Thanks again, we'd love to revisit again when we're in the area! 👍

Well the most important thing to me on this trip was that the hotel was free f friendly and it certainly was. Jo couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Restaurant was lovely. Great food. Great breakfast. Room was ok. Had everything I needed. £15 a dog is bit steep if I’m honest. The going and myself would 100% stay again. Thank you Jo and the team.

Stayed here after a recommendation from a friend. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who is a lovely chap and a delight to chat to. The room we had was bright, clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant one evening and I have to say the food was top class. The breakfast on both days was delicious with plenty on the menu to suit everybody’s tastes, not just ours. The whole place is clean, well kept and bright. All the staff are great and all are cheerful and lovely to deal with. All in all, we couldn’t fault a single thing and we look forward to returning here again in the future. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

We arrived to a friendly welcome from Chris. Our dog friendly room had a very comfy bed, nice decor and a bath with a very good shower too with very nice thick, fluffy towels . Nice furnishings and carpets throughout, all to a high standard. As well as coffee and tea, the bottles of water and home made shortbread biscuits were a very nice touch. Each day the room was cleaned and towels etc replaced, the rooms were really well looked after to a high standard. The location is excellent, opposite the village green, in the quiet village of Swinton. Lovely, well kept, enclosed garden at the back and local walks nearby too. Again all very dog friendly - and I stress friendly and not just "dog tolerant"! Service throughout the evening was friendly and welcoming. Dinner was excellent as was the beer and the wine. The only slight disappointment was the breakfast. Juices, fruit, cereals etc are available but you have to ask for them. The Scottish breakfast was very small and needed much more on the plate in my opinion - this comment was raised with the duty manager though and the feedback was grateful received. The eggs Benedict and kippers were excellent. This hotel is perfect for anyone visiting the area for leisure or for business - you'll get a very friendly welcome!
