Villa Eshta

The hostel spaces were well coordinated, and communication from staff was great! I loved being able to bring my bags early before check-in. I reserved a single room and it was clean and comfortable and the community fridge was helpful to me!

I really appreciated: • the staff • the security • the murals & Egyptian themes • the clientele (other guests felt like instant friends!) • the price ($37 for a co-ed dorm bunk when I booked from SJU on the hostel's website, day of.) • the location: tons of great beaches & shoreline to walk to! and a ＜15 min drive to airport. Sleeping conditions, however, were totally sh*t-tastic. 👎😔 Cons: • The intercom/doorbell either didn't work or no one responded to it when i was trying to check in with all my luggage. Thankful though that it was a secure facility since I had (way too many) valuables with me. (I had to book an extra unexpected night since my confirmed seat on my flight was given to someone else due to my only being 45 min early for my flight. I recommend being ＞1 hour early for any flight in PR!) • Sleeping was difficult/almost impossible due to: - the ceiling fan above my bunk did not work, although the one at the far end of the room next to the A/C unit did... - the A/C was on at 61°F, but blasting cold air straight out a hot window. ❄️🔥🥵 - two of the GIANT windows were closed tight, but 2 were broken and stuck wide open, so the a/c was a big waste of energy and only helped maybe the two people in the bunks right next to it. - it must have been 85-90°+ in my far upper bunk. i tried closing both the busted open windows in every way I could so that the a/c could work its magic, but they were just totally jacked. - (Also there was a fun, raging, funky party at the bar next door til 10pm that was pretty darn loud, but I didn't mind that so much - decent music and happy people; that's my jam 😊🎧 would have been nice to close the windows and muffle the sound around 9 though for the early risers.) Pros (in addition to the ones above in intro): My dorm mates (besides the super drunk guy passed out, but even he was pretty cool, lol) were great! Immediate friends. The crew went out dancing to the hottest spots in town with staff! and invited me but I had a super early flight to catch so I (tried to) sleep instead. I did get to take a fantastic walk to the beaches and have Italian food with a great new buddy I met there! Conclusion: Villa Eshtal is pretty rad, but they need to fix the windows + air conditioning issues (dorm 7) for when it's real hot (for the top bunkers at least! 😋) (Heat rises, but so do we brothers & sisters 💗). I do recommend the place besides that. 🥵🤗🥰

it's something so important!!! He said that he was trying to respect the "quiet time"!!! However he turned the lights and continues searching the room under the bed on his side (he was top bunk) and down. He searched the bags of the girls next to him. Then he moved to my personal items searching my underwear, I told him sir don't play with my underwear! He stated that he is looking for his ********* that he can't find it!!! I reassure him that is not in my bag! The bed is made out of metal tubes that make noise each time someone turn or twist. They put a big girl on top of me and the bed was shaking each time she moved, I was scared that would break under her weight. This is just really really bad place. Drug addict, ********* smokes and heavy drinker's! There is absolutely no rules to reinforce quiet sleeping! No rules for respect other's belongings or space. When those locals were coming to sleep in the room at random hour's I asked how they let them in, and they said "O I just checked in!""" And myself I was kept under the heat for hour's, while dudes were let inside of the room at anytime during night!!! I slept on the beach on the 5th night. And after that I booked a normal hotel. They DON'T PROVIDE ANY REIMBURSEMENT nor you can cancel. It's totally weste of money and absolutely nerve breaking. I smoked 1 pack of cigarettes 🚬 a day trying to overcome the stress and lack of sleep and nastiness that occurs in this place. This is absolute nightmare!!! I don't recommend this place!!! They CHARGE YOU IN ADVANCE!!! I believe because they are aware of how terrible this place is. Horrible! Horrifying! OWFUL! Do not recommend! You deserve better!
