As a family of three, including our 8-year-old child, we were eagerly looking forward to a peaceful and rejuvenating stay at Treecasa Resort in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. Both my partner and I are holistic health practitioners, and we specifically chose Treecasa because of its promise to help guests "Reconnect with Nature & Rejuvenate your soul." Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite of this description, and we left feeling exhausted, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. Uncomfortably Loud and Unrelaxing Atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, it became clear that the reality of Treecasa was far from what we had anticipated. The music by the pool was blaring at a very high volume, which only got louder as the day went on. While we had expected a tranquil environment, what we encountered felt more like a party scene. To make matters worse, the pool area, which had been advertised as a quiet retreat, was opened to the public after noon, becoming increasingly crowded with visitors from the nearby towns. The atmosphere was overwhelming, especially with the loud music continuing all day. The Nightmare of Nighttime Noise The worst part of our stay came after dinner. On Friday night, a rave-style party erupted at the resort, lasting from 8:30 pm until 12:30 am. The noise was unbearable, making it impossible for any of us to sleep, especially our young child, who cried for hours because of the disturbance. What was most upsetting was that we were never informed of this event when we booked the resort. Instead, we received a brief message just before the party began, inviting all guests to join in. We were left feeling blindsided and helpless. Flooding in the Room As if the noise wasn’t enough, at 1 am, a heavy rainstorm hit, and the roof of our room was not equipped to handle the downpour. In a matter of minutes, our son’s bed was completely soaked, and water was flooding the floor around the room. When we spoke to the staff the following morning, they assured us that the loud music wouldn’t happen again, which gave us some hope. But unfortunately, it did—on both Saturday and Sunday nights, the music blared again from midnight until 4 am, and once again, rain caused flooding in our room. Poor Customer Service and Unacceptable Compensation When we raised these issues with the staff, we were told that the resort was fully booked and no other rooms were available. The only alternative they offered was a room located even closer to the source of the loud music. After speaking with the manager, we were given what they called a "token of appreciation"—a free dessert at the restaurant. This, understandably, felt like an insult given the severity of the issues we faced. We requested a refund for the discomfort and inconvenience, but after hours of back-and-forth, they offered us a meager discount for one night of our four-night stay.
