AWFUL SERVICE SPECIFICALLY RECEPTION AND SECURITY. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU VALUE COMFORT AND RESPECT.
It was my birthday weekend. When my husband and I checked in, Kishiro went up to us and was very nice and said happy birthday and then he started trying to SELL US a timeshare presentation BEFORE WE COULD EVEN CHECK IN. He proceeded to tell us we need to pay him $10 to $20 USD in cash in order to watch the presentation, and we said we don’t have cash on us so we asked to pay via card, to which he replied no it needs to be cash. He took us to the ATM on site which was not working WHILE WE STILL HAD OUR LUGGAGES AND HAVEN’T CHECKED IN. Since the ATM wasn’t working he started to lead us to the driveway and told us to go to the ATM two resorts down. We had enough and said we want to go to our room and he creepily said “okay don’t forget about us”. We never got a tour of the resort or an explanation of the reservation system, food and drink services, so we did that all by ourselves. I don’t know if this is normal as it was my first time at an all inclusive Mexican resort.
That same day, as soon as we got down to the lobby Kishiro ran towards us and started pestering us about the $10-$20USD again asking if we had it ready for him. I spent the remainder of our stay fearful and uncomfortable of being chased down to be sold something when I just wanted to relax for my birthday weekend..
The next morning, my husband and I went on an excursion off site, and were chased down by Kishiro AGAIN. He asked us “where are you going?” (is this normal? I’m a grown adult and have NEVER been asked by hotel staff in that manner as if I had to answer to him. It’s my vacation.) We proceeded to tell him where we were heading and he begged us to stay, which made me even more uncomfortable.
The cherry on top was when we were checking out, there were two staff and a HUGE line up of visitors trying to check out. Only one was doing checkout. We finally got to our turn and she asked us to pay 100 mexican pesos for housekeeping (we didn’t even put out the housekeeping sign for them). We paid it since they indeed did housekeeping regardless. We finished checking out and then the guard asked us for our “check out card” which was NEVER handed out to us. We told him we just checked out and we were not handed anything. We had an uber waiting for us and then we said please check with the reception because she didn’t give us anything to which he replied in Spanish (probably thinking we didn’t understand) that we were very disrespectful for making him go back to check. I’m sorry we weren’t handed any “check out card”! What am I supposed to do, lie?!
RUDEST service people I have ever met. My parents both worked in the hospitality industry so I know how it is. I try to be the most respectful and accommodating guest as possible because I know how service staff can be treated but this was the most terrible I have been treated at a hotel, worse even that it was my first time at Mexico, and first time at a resort. I hated it here. It’s a shame because the food service and drink service workers were very good. Everyone else was horrible. Please avoid if you want to be treated with decency and respect.
