First and foremost, this is a Hostel not a hotel, if you do not know what a hostel is or have not stayed in one before in the US or outside the country I recommend taking a little time to research so you understand where you will be staying. Having said that, I have stayed in hostels in 7 countries and this place is extremely clean and well run. There is a mix of travelers / visitors and people who are using it as a place until they get something more permanent. Since rent for a place in San Diego starts at the price of this place and goes way up from here, 2000 for a studio to 6000 for a 2 bedroom, this is unsurprising. Each pod is divided off by its own curtain and there are about 7 pods per dorm, Each pod also has it's own corresponding locker which has enough space for everything from a normal regulation carry on bag. I made sure to keep all valuables locked in there when not in the hostel and had no issues and felt safe at all times, I left a few items in my pod on the rack and hooks each day and never saw any evidence of any tampering or the like and when the curtain was drawn I doubt there would be. If you will be staying for any time there is a small communal kitchen space where everyone may make meals. Basic utensils, pots, pans, spices, cutlery and dining ware are all available for use, just do your part and clean up after yourself. If you are going to buy food, use the provided cool or cold storage or locker and be sure to label it. Coffee and Tea were available each morning I was there as well. The communal areas were all very clean and the people sharing them were a mixed bag of humanity and generally all friendly and conversational. I met a few of the regulars who live there and some who have used it when between homes or when coming out to stay for a time and while I would agree some were not people I would hang out with normally none were offensive or threatening and in fact like other hostels I have been in most just want to be accepted as they are and will take you as you come. The staff were pleasant and courteous in all interactions I had with them and gave good advice each time I asked including where to eat, best way to get somewhere, and general conversation. My only complaints have to do with some maintenance issues, some of the fixtures in the bathrooms and especially the showers are showing the wear of a few years of use and minor neglect. Also, the latches on the dorm doors tend to catch and so are very loud and disturbing at night when they thunk to a stop rather than close smoothly and quietly. I have already booked for my next stay in about 2 months and would recommend it to others so long as they understand the communal aspects of staying here.

Die freundliche und effiziente Eincheckung, die auch komplimentäre Wasserflaschen umfasste, war unser Balkon im 12. Stock auf einer Ecke, so dass wir Aussichten auf den Hafen, Coronado Island & Brücke und Petco Park hatten. Wir besuchten 2 Spiele (Go Giants!) und schätzten unseren eigenen besonderen Eingang über die Hotel-Himlenbrücke. Es war so nett, nach dem Spiel einfach zurück in unser Zimmer zu gehen. Wir gingen leicht zu mehreren Restaurants und zum Schrei! Haus. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und schön eingerichtet. Das Bett, Kissen und Bettwäsche waren die komfortablesten von einem Hotelbett, das wir erlebt haben. Es gab einen USB-Port und mehrere Plug-ins. Das Wi-Fi, der Kaffeemaschine im Zimmer, der Sicherheitsschrank, der Kühlschrank und die Schranken wurden sehr geschätzt. Das Kleid war groß, mit Hängern und zwei Kofferständern, so dass unser Zimmer geräumig bleiben konnte. Wir haben Trinkscheine für die Bar im ersten Stock erhalten und vor einem der Ballspiele gebündelt. Der Balkon hat Schleiftüren und brachte in die frische Luft. Es gab nicht viel Straßenlärm beim Schlafen. Sobald die Sonne aufsteigt, können die leichten Eisenbahnzüge, Sirenen, Hornen und Hochmotoren gehört werden. Wir erlebten keine Lärm aus den benachbarten Zimmern. Ich denke, das war die erste Reise, jemals, dass es keine Schlammtüren, Lautsprecher oder laufende Kinder gab. Das Badezimmer war wahrscheinlich das seltsamste, was wir erlebt haben. Sehr sauber und aktualisiert, aber die doppelten Schiebetüren waren sehr bull und laut. Vielleicht einige WD-40 auf den Spuren würde helfen. Es gibt dekorative Schalter ”Fenster”, die nichts getan haben, um Geräusche und Geruch zu verbergen. Kein Zeichen eines Fans, so haben wir die Balkontüren geöffnet, wenn in dem Zimmer. Nicht ein Dealer, nur ein einzigartiges seltsames Aufgestellt.

Ich wurde zum Parkgebühren gezahlt, weil ich kein Auto fahren und nur Lyft und Uber während meines Aufenthalts genommen.

Dieses Hotel war großartig. Ich genossen wirklich den Aufenthalt in diesem Ort. Das Zimmer war groß, sauber und gut gepflegt mit einem komfortablen Bett und einem super schönen Kühlschrank. Es gibt einen Parkplatz kostenlos, aber bald wird es für 15$/Tag gezahlt. Das Personal war sehr nett. Es gibt auch einen guten Swimmingpool, den wir nicht verwendet haben. Es gibt ein schönes Restaurant mit großen Waffeln zum Frühstück in der Nähe der Lobby. Insgesamt ein toller Ort, wo zu bleiben!

Ausgezeichnete Aufmerksamkeit von dem Personal die Einrichtungen sind sehr zugänglich und sehr sauber das Bett sehr komfortabel und der Pool groß, ich rief sie zu bemerken, dass ich spät für meine check-in sein werde und sie waren sehr hilfreich, Sehr sauber Ich liebe alle weißen Blätter und Handtücher wir lieben es

It used to be a Comfort Inn that we have always stayed at for over 10 years but now a Best Western. Very nice upgrades, great and friendly staff, love the location, A good place to stay. Close to downtown, Old Town, Zoo, and 5 minutes to the beach and shopping and golf just 5 minutes away also.

Great value for a budget traveler. Older motel-style property, but well-maintained with modernized furnishings and bathrooms. Comfortable beds that compare with my more common Marriott stays. I found my room lighting to be a bit disappointing (too dim), no breakfast option, but there are several nearby diners and a Vons supermarket are within 5 mins walking distance. The location is not central to much unless there’s a sports event at the arena, but it’s easy to get places by Uber or a pretty decent mass transit network (if you have the time…. As it could double or triple your travel time) The MTS route 8 bus stops right out front. We went all the way to Torrey Pines Beach for $2.50 each way (bus 8 to Old Town, blue trolley toward UTC, then the 101 to Torrey Pines State Park for a hike with great views!). And, in only about 60-70 mins, and we’re able to fit in a trip to LaJolla cove on the way back.I

Once again I had an incredible stay here, the staff and location are both terrific! Just like last time, Olivia was totally awesome and did everything she could to ensure that my stay was perfect. Everything was very clean and well-kept in all places throughout as well. The entire setup is organized to help make new friends, ones from all over the country/world, which is a plus for people who are socially active or like to get to know interesting people. The price is great as well, for those who are keeping costs on their mind. I feel both younger and older people would be able to handle the setup, the bunks are very easy to navigate, not cumbersome or hard to get in/out of at all. Overall, I have no complaints or bad thoughts in any way whatsoever, everything went so well for this most recent stay here. Olivia was SUPER professional & friendly throughout the entire experience again & I highly encourage anyone who wants to spend time in this part of San Diego to go ahead with Samesun.
