During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early!
