Ibis Budget Saint-Quentin Centre Gare

This was a great stop over location on a long journey driving across France. The secure carpark (which you pay approx £5 for) was a great asset to save unloading the full car. The bedrooms were small but clean and adequate for a quick overnight stay. We arrived at around 23:30hrs and reception was still open. Reception staff pleasant. Breakfast was available but we did not buy this option. Check out was midday, which was handy as it gave us enough time in the morning to walk up to the main square, have a look at some of the pretty buildings, around a few shops and the cathedral before we carried on our journey.

The clue is in the name - a budget hotel, which is compact, clean and modern, with basic eating services, absolutely adequate for an overnight stop, with secure private parking. The rooms are designed for compactness. Ours at the back, overlooking the car park, was very clean and surprisingly quiet for an inner-city location. The bed was comfortable. There was no tea/coffee-making facility in the room, but there is a bar and breakfast room next to the reception which served drinks, microwaved simple snacks (lasagne, hachis parmentier, etc, etc) and desserts, all on demand. The staff on arrival and departure were very friendly and attentive, serving us with an evening bite to eat. The car park is accessed through a shuttered doorway at the side of the hotel and costs €6 a night. As an overnight stop, it suited us and our purse very well, whilst still providing all the budget facilities that we needed.

Greeted by friendly cheerful receptionist and aided to find and enter my room by equally friendly, cheerful and helpful chambermaid. Delighted to find a lift (not usual in these hotels in my experience) and also a more than adequate evening meal. I would definitely return.
