I booked this hotel as a last-minute option. I have stayed here before so there were no nasty surprises. The hotel is easy to find and is in a great location, right in the middle of Clifden. As always, the staff were pleasant and I had no trouble booking in. My room looked like it had been refurbished and it was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The shower is over a bathtub but it was nice to see a handheld showerhead option alongside the usual fixed one. A few more power outlets wouldn't have gone amiss, though the dinky clock-radio cube device has a couple of USB ports on the top. Speaking of the clock-radio, it went off at 6 am so keep an eye out for that if you book a room there! The hotel doesn't seem to have a lift, so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues or luggage. My biggest bugbear is the breakfast in this hotel. Although I see lots of people praising the great continental breakfast offered here, it is a disappointment that this hotel has given up on serving hot food at breakfast time. I thought this was a hangover from the pandemic but it seems not. If you fancy some scrambled egg or any form of cooked breakfast, you're going to be sorely disappointed. It's unlikely to be an issue when the weather is good but on a colder morning, bowls of cereal and cold sausage rolls just don't hit the spot. Even the toast machine has decided to join in on the act - it barely coloured the crumbs on my bread.
