Victoria Hotel

Excellence from start to finish of our stay. The fantastic sea views and the great customer service was second to none. Thoroughly recommend.

Hotel Victoria is in a perfect location with lovely views across Robin Hood’s Bay. Parking is provided for each room and bus stops for Whitby or Scarborough are close by. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. The food is good , the bar serves a good selection of beers and the rooms are comfortable.

Chose to come back after 36 years to celebrate a birthday. Loved every minute . Great value for what we paid.

Called in for breakfast this morning to be told the guests were being served and we would not be able to eat for at least half an hour. Had a stroll along the beach and returned to find the dining area empty and were told to go through to the bar. After standing in the bar for several minutes unsure of what was supposed to happen next, I returned to the dining area to be told again to go to the bar where there were menus “on’t side” and someone would be there presently, I’m still unsure as to what the side might be however. A man then emerged from the kitchen and after asking him if he worked there he informed us that someone would attend to us and disappeared back into the kitchen. Again after standing around like a couple of spare parts for another five minutes I went to the reception and asked if anybody actually worked there as the receptionist was chatting to a portly woman holding a tray and not paying any attention to us whatsoever. The aforementioned portly woman duly replied “yes we actually work here, we’re busy” and waddled off to the bar area with me following her. She then completely ignored my attempts at conversation, turned her ample back to me and waddled off somewhere else. A small acknowledgment of our presence was all that was required but apparently talking at reception rendered them incapable due to being so busy. A rather unpleasant experience. Breakfast was taken elsewhere in beautiful surroundings and pleasant service.

As always the staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we checked in. The location and views from the restaurant and of course the food make the entire visit relaxed and memorable.

We had a lovely meal in the bar, plenty of it. Friendly staff. Even had a game of dominoes and noughts and crosses which are on the tables, pity there were dominoes missing though.. It would have been 5 stars, but when entering through to the toilets the smell of urine was overpowering!!
