The Promissory Hotel

"I came to stay at the Promissory as a half-way point between Philadelphia and Asheville, where I was headed for the weekend, and I was not disappointed! So incredibly charming, thoughtful, and inviting. I was offered a complimentary upgrade to my room to their gorgeous and spacious Artist's Suite and enjoyed a glass of champagne upon arrival. The staff were all friendly, informative, and professional. I wish I was able to stay longer but promise that if I ever find my way to Roanoke (an adorable town!) I will be staying again, and will certainly tell everyone I know to reserve a room at the Promissory Hotel."

"Absolutely terrible, like staying in a slum in Curry Country. The entire room reeked, not a single piece of furniture was clean, all the fabrics were greasy and stained—a truly awful experience! The floor outside the room was covered in animal excrement, and the carpet in the room was torn and filthy! We demand the cancellation of this hotel's operating license!"
