Great ambience, first time staying in the hotel. The staff was excellent and hospitable we were greeted by every staff member that we came across. They were all passionate and knowledgeable of the history of the hotel. We were able to check in sooner as our room was available. Even though we had a pool side view, there was very minimal noise. The only down side was that someone randomly knocked on our door at night and apparently there was a leak on the lower floor and staff needed to enter the room the following day but they did apologize for the inconvenience. Can't blame them though as I'm sure the person experiencing the leak was WAY more inconvenienced than us. Aside from that everything was great, the food, drinks, staff, and even the guests would share/recommend things to do or see. Would definitely come back again!

The service could have been more friendly and accommodating. It’s a huge hotel with twists and turns. Would have been helpful to have someone guide us to our room upon arrival. Also there is no water bottles provided in the room. They make you go to the desk to retrieve them. And we had to request room cleaning.

I would really like to have written a very nice review of the Mission Inn. I am a huge fan of historical hotels and this one is beautiful. I've stayed before and was looking forward to a return trip to kick off a road trip. We booked the room on January 15th, 2024. I really want to write even a "poor" review, but to be honest, I really had an experience that could only be "terrible". Spoiler alert: after many hours we ended up just leaving and staying at the courtyard Marriott nearby, because they actually were able to honor a reservation, even one made at 10pm for the same night. I can only surmise that they oversold the place, and does it really matter what was said? When it comes down to it, when you reserve lodging, you expect to have a functioning room, and after two hours of failing to provide that, we had to give up. It started when we checked in at 8pm, June 24th, and were told that our cool room with a king bed we had carefull chosen was "upgraded" to a 2-queen room. Then when we asked about the room, the front desk person said al the rooms are basically the same. If you know ANYTHING about the Mission Inn, you know that is the exact opposite of what this place is all about. The rooms are individual and very different, Maybe they are all great, but that's not "basically the same" an our room was not great. It might have been great, but when we tried to get in, the keys didn't work. I should tell you that it's a journey to get ro your room there, that we had fought through hours of traffic, and that the restaurant was closing in a half hour (which should be enough time to check in, no?). Making the Journey back to the front desk, instead of saying "let me re-key these for you, I am sorry sorry" the answer was oh, they might be having some probems with the locks there, I'll send a repair person up. So they already knew? Or what? This was really confusing. I went back to the car, and paid for the bellhop and valet parking because time was running out for dinner and we wanted to give them a chance to get the room sorted. Dinner was very nice, and my only mistake was not putting it on the room, but since we hadn't actually GOTTEN a room yet, I didn't. After dinner, we went back to the front desk. We're about an hour and a quarter into the story, bear with me here: The front desk person didn't actually know whether the room was ready yet. This wasn't a busy night by that time. We had to interrupt a personal conversation to ask, or at least it seemed that way. Then they said "it should be fixed by now". Journeying back up to the room for the third time, when we got there, the door was standing open, there was one maintenance person with a bunch of tools and batteries still trying to get the card-lock to work, and a slick - looking security dude. No idea what his role was suposed to be, But at least we went in to check the room, and well, it was nothing special, and also HOT. We asked the security dude where the the thermostat was,

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. First, the check-in process was extremely slow, which set a negative tone for my stay. Then, after finally getting my room key, it didn’t work the first time, and I had to go back to the front desk. When I got a working key and went to the room, I found someone already occupying it—an incredibly awkward and unprofessional situation. Later, there was loud music playing on the street outside my room at night. I called the front desk to ask if anything could be done, but they were dismissive, saying it was outside their jurisdiction. They couldn’t even give me an estimate of how long the noise would last. It felt like my concerns were not valued at all. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my stay. I would not recommend staying here.

I recently was a guest at your location and wanted to share my experience. To begin, I booked this trip to celebrate my anniversary with the excitement of being able to share this experience with my husband. This was our 10 year anniversary and I thought this would be a beautiful place to celebrate. To begin, I have always been in awe of this establishments structure and design. I had stayed here some time ago and was excited to show him the essence and beauty that I had experienced in the past however during our stay there were some concerns and assistance left unaddressed. When we arrived to our room, we noticed that the toilet was making a loud noise, it was continuously running. I contacted the front desk and was told that they would send someone to look at the issue. We waited for someone to present however, no response. I contacted the front desk again and was told that they attempted to come to the room but no-one was there. I found this to be in error as we were waiting in the room for them to arrive. I told them that we would be in the room for approx. 1-2hr if they wanted to come then or after we left the room was adequate as well. When we arrived back to the room later in the evening, we found the toilet was still making this noise. When I asked the front desk, they stated they will let maintenance know. For the remainder of our stay, there was no resolve and the toilet continued to be an annoyance. In addition, the bathtub had hair left from a previous guest I am assuming, I did not bother to contact housekeeping and cleaned this area myself. During our stay, housekeeping did not present to clean our room or provide service as expected. I had to contact the front desk and even ask the staff that were seen in the hallway for additional towels. I felt horrible leaving a pile of towels for 3 days, under the bathroom sink however I was not sure where to place them. Besides, the negative findings and concerns, the spa was amazing. The staff were welcoming and held a great attitude that was greatly appreciated. I have always boasted on your establishment to others prior to this visit, and unfortunately this experience does not meet the exceptional comments that I have shared with others in the past. In fact, I have a few family and friends that have asked for the website and information however an teetering if I should provide details on my last experience. I am hoping that future encounters are more pleasant in nature. Thank you for your time. Angela Garcia

Severe lack of front desk service with poor attitude. Waited 45 minutes to check in and then 45 minutes to check out. At peak time for checkout in the morning with a large conference there was only 1 person at front desk. Hotel needs to staff up and train them to greet guests nicely. Room keys failed multiple times.

I have been trying for make reservations for the Halloween tour at the Mission Inn that includes the Catacombs but I kept calling the number listed and no one ever answered, then I went in person to the concierge and they told me that reservations are by phone only. Tried again just now, phone wrang for 10 minutes, a person picked up the phone and then just hung up without saying a word. At this point I just want to file a complain. My kids want to do ghost tours and the overly complicated difficulties to make reservations at the the Mission Inn is by far the most difficult I have encountered in my 50 years of my life travels around the world.

I visited this place with my cousin. This was my first time visiting this place and for me it was very exciting to visit a historical building that was transformed into an inn. I only visited and did not stay overnight, fortunately visitors are allowed to stroll around inside this building. The architecture is still neat and well maintained, although there are antiques asset but they are still well maintained. The vibe is very oldies, but for me it is not scary, more romantic. The rate per night is quite expensive, comparable to the historical value of this building. If you have the opportunity to hold a wedding ceremony, there is a cathedral in the area of building complex that can perfect your wedding event.

I met friends for lunch. We picked Mission Inn because of its history & reputation. We were sorely disappointed. The food in the Mission Inn restaurant inside the Inn was mediocre at best. I had to send back my desert, it was bad. Except the truffle fries, they were very good. The service was slow & when we wanted to make a reservation for the historic tour no one could help us nor would anyone answer the phone in reservations. The couple we met for lunch are locals & familiar with the Inn when service & quality were better. VERY disappointed.

We ended up sleeping in our rental vehicle on our honeymoon night after the Mission Inn gave away our one-of-a-kind honeymoon suite to another couple, even though we reserved it more than 1 year in advance and had it in writing, called to confirm and had the name of the person we spoke with and a confirmation number, as well as multiple current and former employees who confirmed that we reserved it. We found out when our wedding photographer went to bring her equipment to the suite and another couple walked out. Additionally, it was so stressful trying to plan our wedding with the high turnover of staff at the Mission Inn. At the time of our wedding there were NO event managers, only a director who just started and had to be shown around the property by our outside Day Of Coordinator who we hired ourselves. And to top it all off, we reserved The Frank Miller room for Sunday Brunch for our guests at the suggestion of restaurant manager Emad, whom we met with in person multiple times including a week and a half before our wedding, but found out that the reservation was never made, despite us being there in person when Emad requested the staff to reserve it for us. He even had the staff check that the room was available on the day we wanted to reserve it. We didn’t know that the Frank Miller room even existed prior to Emad suggesting it and requesting it for us. And after the feedback from some of our guests who spent the night at the hotel, I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews first. It was just such a terrible experience and I hope no other couple has to go through what we went through.
