"If your idea of holiday implies sleeping comfortably and relaxing by the pool and sipping a drink while the kids splash in the pool then this is not the place for you. The residenza enjoys beautiful and lush gardens. The restaurant Il Giardino Degli Aranci, is quite charming in an informal way and has good food and welcoming service. The outdoor design of this residence is quite beautiful and it seems the architects won a prize for this, however they completely ignored the interior design and comfort of the apartments. The apartments are basic and uninviting. There is no A/C, no dish washer, the "sofa" was covered with a thick textile, the inside lighting was clearly not thought through and not to mention that the beds and pillows were hard. I could keep going... The swimming pools - If you want to enjoy the big swimming pool you must pay 30€ extra per week per person .You are required to use a swimming cap, as ridiculous as it sounds, it is true and the lifeguards will act strictly upon it if you don't. The lifeguards are also constantly watching over the guests in case someone missed following the swimming pool rules. My kids jumped on the deep side of the pool (+ 3 meters) and the lifeguard told us that jumping is not allowed, as it is also not allowed to use a ball or other any toys in the big pool. You are also not allowed to bring drinks or food to the swimming pool area. "

"Actually, we stayed already in July 2021 at Hotel Rio sul Mare, for full eight nights; we had booked our Elba holiday on quite short notice. The 60s style furniture is splendid, the staff is very kind and accommodating, and we loved the breakfast buffet with a wide variety of homemade cakes, even eggs, to be enjoyed in the shade of the garden. Chef Felice is one of a kind, and the fig jam that I received at the end of the stay to take home was delicious. If there is anything to point out, maybe the thin walls, but overall it was a fantastic stay."
