The Lamb Inn

Paid online for twin room, one night stay, and asked to book in after 4pm ( 26th / 27thSept 2023 ) When we arrived at 4.15pm, pub was closed , no staff. Note on door said ring bell. Rang bell 3 times. Nothing. Phone number on a bit of paper stuck on the door, said ring if no answer from bell. Call went straight to answerphone. Didnt ring at all. We left a message. No call back. Rang again, nothing. No call back. Rang again, same again. We sat in the tiny carpark for for over an hour with our baggage on one of the tables. We eventually gave up. We have since heard that this has happened to others in the last few weeks. Apparently the landlord has shut up shop, and is avoiding people, but still happy take anyone's money. THE PUB HAS SHUT DOWN. DO NOT BOOK.

Property is very basic and Wi-Fi had not been working for over a week. I was due to stay 3 nights but left after 1 as my daughter couldn’t so her college work without the Wi-Fi. Manage confirmed to *********** that the 2 nights could be refunded. 3 weeks later still no refund and owner now saying I was asked to leave as I was inebriated, which is a total lie. *********** not helpful in this situation. Not worth £90 per night, Premier Inn that we moved to much better and a similar price.

Hosts very helpful and friendly. Room maybe a bit dated but the double room was spacious, bed comfortable and shower good. The full English breakfast is all freshly cooked and plentiful. The pub and restaurant are open from Tuesday to Sunday but the hosts will do a meal on Monday evening for guests. We ate twice in the evening and the food was well cooked and prepared. I had steak which was cooked exactly how I ordered it and my wife had home made mushroom stroganoff which was very good. On the other evening my wife had fish and chips with home made tartare sauce. I had home made Chili con carne. Both meals were very good. The hotel is handy for the town which has plenty of choice of cafes and restaurants.

Friendly folk but disappointed with standard of room for the price. Put in a tired looking outer building, room dated, could do with a lick of paint at least, same with bathroom which was dark an dinjy. This was just a journey breaking stopover on to our hols. Not sure this place will survive as it was a fri night and didn't see one person in restaurant part. We did give in to eating in the bar and the food was good but the old frozen chips reared their ugly head. Think I'm being generous giving average mark.

The owners were friendly however we were very disappointed with the state of the room. Whilst the beds were comfortable enough, the general quality of the facilities in the room were not good enough. The toilet seat was not screwed on properly and the shower was not powerful enough. The breakfast options were poor as well, with the “continental” breakfast simply being some small multipack cereals and some toast.

Very surprised on arrival to find the pub shut, no-one immediately visible to greet us & the outside did not appear inviting. Indeed the fact that the pub wasn’t opening at all that evening came as a complete surprise. The room itself was adequate.
