Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos, Ramada All Inclusive Resort

My mother and I have just returned from a 6 day stay at the Decameron. We were in Rincon for a funeral, so we didn’t have a lot of time to research and book. The Decameron package was inexpensive, so we booked. There are some pro’s and con’s with this property. Firstly, my review has nothing to do with the town at all, I had some of the best street food of my life there, but it’s quiet…..real quiet. We stayed in building 4 and it was loud. The building has a road on the front and back and it’s noisy all night long. I barely slept, with earplugs. Very little hot water, and really crappy wifi, no blow dryer. The AC worked well, but it’s on the wall and blows directly onto your head, which was really uncomfortable. The curtains are not black out, bring an eye mask. There isn’t an elevator in this building, so if you have mobility issues, I would not stay here. The pool in this area is great, very quiet with a bar close by. The alcohol is not the greatest here, no baileys, no bubbles, no canned beer. Beach chairs were literally impossible to get, there are very few and saving starts before 7am. Luckily we could go to the sister Marina resort and were able to get chairs most days (by 9am). The food - this one is tough. I have food allergies (dairy) and could barely eat here. The food on the buffet is not labelled and the staff are unaware of the ingredients. When I asked about a salad dressing (in Spanish) the staff member stuck her finger in the dressing and said “tastes like mayonnaise”. If you are vegan, you will have a very hard time here, if it wasn’t for street food, I would have survived on toast. The a la carte restaurants are rarely open and you have to use an app to book,no exceptions. At the marina, you have to come down to the desk at 9am. In 6 days only one restaurant was open. The staff were very nice, Jessie in customer service helped me with a flower arrangement, the bellman were very nice, as were all of the other staff we interacted with. The beach is amazing, I walked every morning at 6:30 am and felt very safe. We will probably not return to this resort as it’s really run down and the food was poor.

Hi this is our 8th visit since 2008 nice to see a couple of the staff still there buffet was good every night we ate at La baba it was awesome my wife has shell fish allergies no problem the wait staff helped her flora the omlet person was awesome drinks were great always found chairs on the beach they renovated tropical restaurant while we were there the bricks by building 4 pool need to be repaired and at the front door of tropical which was blocked off for safety we had a great time and will return

My wife and I. Except for the west jet delays and cancellation we experienced, the trip and stay was enjoyable. Having three Decamerons to visit each day made the day go by quicker. I walked each day through the town to the Isla Coral and started each morning with a beer. Relaxed and hit the Marina for another one before getting back for lunch. I love being in the pools for afternoon and only heated pool was at the Marina so went there daily. Beach was very busy but nice. Food was somewhat repetitious but there was variety and was quite well prepared and tasty. We moved from building 4 ( too many stairs) to 1 which had an elevator. Rooms were dated but clean and room cleaning service was good when we wanted it. Drinks we found had huge variety and the dirty bananas etc. were excellent (no aspertame). Vendors on the beach and town were very well mannered so made shopping a breeze. Decameron workers were great. Drawbacks - very few spoke English so asking questions was a little tough so needed to find workers who could relate, pools needed to be heated at Los Cocos, the alacarte was not great so I would stay with buffet, ride to and from hotel was long and no buses, just cramped vans. Buses (vans) and taxis easy to access. The weather was cool but that is no ones fault. Some people were told they could not visit the other Decamerons and that is hog wash. We ate, drank, hung out at the others with no issue at all. Reservations needed for Dinner however. Anyway we will have no problem returning there as long as do not have to take Westjet. What a nightmare.
