Our stay at Hotel Odinsve was excellent. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and the location is great for walking around Reykjavik. (Tip for future guests with light baggage: if you take FlyBus from Keflavik airport, you'll be dropped off at the BSI transfer terminal first. The hotel is maybe 15 minutes away from the terminal at a gentle pace, and the transfer bus will only get you halfway there. Walking will get you there faster, unless you have heavy bags or limited mobility.) There was a little bit of street noise into the night, as our room looked out on a park and bistro. But I was pleasantly surprised how well the blackout curtains and windows muffled the sound. The room was smaller than I expected, but worked out fine for two people and three carry-on bags.

Wir haben zwei Nächte im City Center Hotel geblieben. Es gibt ein eklektisches Innenraum, eine komfortable Lobby und auf einer der Lobbytischs gibt es eine große Schale Süßigkeiten, die einige leckere Likör-Toffee für die Aufnahme hat. Ein- und Auschecken war einfach, reibungslos und beide Rezeptionisten waren extrem freundlich und sprechend. Baktus, der sein eigenes Instagram-Konto lebt dort... nur ein weiteres wunderschönes Resident Reykjavik Katze! Unser Zimmer war auf der fünften Etage und es gab einen kleinen Aufzug oder Sie könnten die Treppen nehmen. Unser Zimmer hatte ein Kingsize, komfortable Bett. Der Balkon war klein und wunderschön und es gab dunkle Gräber, um die Sonne am Morgen zu blockieren. Es gab auch eine kleine Kühlschrank-Art funky-kühl, da es wie ein Weinkühler aussah. Viele Handtücher, Seife, Shampoo und ein Haartrockner. Es gibt keinen Schrank, sondern ein Kleidungsstück, um die Mantel oder Kleidung zu hängen. Im Zentrum befinden sich viele Restaurants umgeben; wir essen in der Laundromat Cafe eine Nacht. Es gibt auch einen kleinen Gemüsegeschäft über den kleinen Park am Ende der Straße, der Vegan Sandwiches und andere Güte hatte. Das Hotel liegt auch in der Nähe von Bus Stop #1 (Stadthall) und Bus Stop #3 (außerhalb des Hard Rock Cafe) und macht es super einfach, Ausflügebusse oder Bus zurück zu BSI Busstation und auf dem Flughafen Keflavik zu fangen. Würde ich hier nochmal bleiben -

My wife and I recently spent a very pleasant 5 nights at this hotel. It is nicely situated in the marina area slightly away from the city centre, but still with many local restaurants. Our room (on the top floor as specifically requested) was small but perfectly formed with an excellent view over the Marina. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was powerful and the the wi-fi was excellent. The room had all we needed, really, apart from, perhaps, some drawers for clothing. There was space on some open shelves but we prefer to have our clothes 'put away' and not on show. We had no problem with noise entering our room either from the outside or from neighbouring rooms. We took breakfast on a couple of occasions and it was a decent buffet affair, albeit pricey. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, polite and very helpful in arranging excursions and advising on things to do in Iceland. We didn't take dinner in the hotel, but we did find an excellent gastropub literally over the road from the hotel.

This one is somewhat tough to review. Service was 1-star. We received no instructions to enter and had to spend a fair amount of time on the phone (at costly international rates) to receive instructions. The instructions we received were not detailed enough. They did not mention entering through the restaurant to get to the first-floor rooms. Rooms on the second floor do not have to do this. The room itself was okay to decent. The kitchenette was nice, but the dishes were in the dishwasher when we arrived. The room lacked commonplace security features like an interior deadbolt, security chain, or a peephole. Combined with the strange way to enter the ”hotel” this made us feel uneasy. The fact that this hotel is not staffed and entry is through code would have been fine if detailed instructions were provided. Plenty of AirBnBs do this well. For the price, this would be much better value if they had better customer service and detailed instructions along with some additional security features. As it is I wouldn't recommend.

Das Gästehaus selbst war schön genug. Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie, wenn Sie in einem der Haushalte Zimmer verbleiben, nur ein Bad pro 5 Zimmer (wenn Sie nicht bereit sind, zurück zum Haupthaus zu gehen und eins der dortigen Badezimmer zu benutzen). Das war während meines Aufenthalts kein Problem, aber ich wachte super früh auf, um es zu vermeiden, ein Problem zu werden. Das eigentliche Problem für mich war das Fehlen von Kommunikation. Ich musste endlich noch 50 Dollar für Ferngespräche ausgeben, weil dieses Unternehmen nicht überprüft, ihre E-Mail oder Facebook-Nachrichten. Darüber hinaus musste ich zweimal anrufen, weil ich zum ersten Mal falsche Informationen erhalten hatte. Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Buchung dieses Eigentums ein Risiko ist, wenn Sie über einen Dritten buchen (Expedia etc.), weil Sie möglicherweise nicht die E-Mail mit Anweisungen zu erhalten, wie Sie sich einloggen (darum musste ich wiederholt anrufen, nachdem sie nicht auf meine E-Mails antworten konnten).

Kex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

Dieses Hostel hat nur eine praktische und funktionale Lage. Der einzige Grund, hier zu bleiben ist für seine bequeme pickup und brechen Sie eine Haltestelle für Touren und den Flughafen. Das Zimmer war ein 4-Bett-Dorm und war stark. Gelegen gegenüber der Küche und oberhalb des Haupteingangs bedeutete es auch ziemlich laut. Die Bündel sind sehr, sehr grundlegende. Es gibt keine Ladepunkte an jedem Bett in diesem besonderen Schlafzimmer (3) und die Schranke ist eine dekorative Schießen. Die Reinigung hinterließ viel zu wünschen. Regelmäßig musste man die Rezeption für Handsap in der Toilette, Papierhandtücher und Toilettenpapier beantragen. Das Wi-Fi ist nicht vorhanden und das Rezeptionpersonal ist völlig ambivalent; sie sind angenehm, aber absolut kein Wunsch, zu helfen. Es ist eine plausible Verweigerung zu bedenken. Sie bleiben hier nur für die Lage, die Ihnen den Zugang zu allem ermöglicht, was Island bietet.

Meine Bewertung betrifft insbesondere die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption, im Restaurant und im Zimmerservice. Besonders geschätzt habe ich ihren außerordentlichen Fleiß und die Schnelligkeit in ihrer Arbeit, die Freundlichkeit in allen Bereichen und die Hilfsbereitschaft, insbesondere dann, wenn es einem an eigenen Fremdsprachenkenntnissen etwas mangelt. Ich werde das Hotel Cabin auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Nach zwei Nächten, am nächsten Tag hatte ich kein Zimmer gereinigt (die Marke des Zimmers gereinigt), die Telefonanschrift wurde nur mehrmals geantwortet, um eine neue Anzeige zu bieten. Die Rezeption ist jetzt beschäftigt, um sich selbst die Toilette zu holen, wenn es nötig ist. Die Zimmer hygienisch ist möglich.

When we return to Iceland, we will most likely look first at staying here. It was very clean and comfortable, the people at the front desk were super helpful, the lobby was beautiful, and we enjoyed the free garage parking very much. We stayed here our last night before flying back home, and we had to leave at 6am so we were unable to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, but they did have coffee and pastries waiting for us in the lobby before we departed. The location was just a short 5 minute drive to the center of town, and the person at the check-in desk gave us very good directions for parking and even made a great dinner reservation for us at the Seafood Grill. We had a wonderful time.
