Apollon Hotel Apartments

Our first time in crete and The Apollon apartments didn't disappointment,we were in a studio but it had everything you could want from a kitchen,to lovely balcony and spacious room,all spotlessly clean,little shop on site for your essentials and reasonably priced,lovely pool area,,we will return

Good sized one bed apartment in nice grounds with good pool. Good bar area with reasonable daytime menu. Cleaned regularly, comfortable bed. Helpful friendly staff. Short walk to few good local restaurants, and bus stop to Rethymon, not too far from main area/beach in Platanes. All you want from a self catering holiday.

We arrived at 1.30am and were very grateful to find our fridge stocked with a few essentials as we were too late for shops to be open (8.50 euros, bargain!) The room was on the ground level and was spotless. Our balcony faced the outside of the hotel and our door opened out to the pool. The family and staff are very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our time there very much. The pool was great for my daughter & neice, at it's deepest it's 1.4 meters and there's a small toddler pool. Plenty of sunbeds and we got food & drinks from the little bar. The on-site shop is handy though we also walked to Lidl nearby (6-7 min walk, we came back a different route to the road, you walk through the car park and turn left, quieter, no cars). It took us 10 mins to walk down to the road lined with shops and restaurants (turn right after the taxi rank). This isn't the very touristy pretty type of resort I've been to on other islands, it felt more like a place people live and work, so you do seen young teenagers hanging about, and it's more urban but the shops and restaurants are the usual holiday type places, a good choice of places to eat (we loved Pagonas and Myli). There's a bus to Rethymno, you buy a 2 euro ticket. I think hotel reception sold them (we just got the bus one way after walking to Rethymno, bought ticker from a kiosk also selling sweets, crisps, drinks etc, by the bus stop). ] We booked a day trip to Knossos & Heraklion with CheckIn Crete (excellent) and were picked up on the road by the restaurants (outside Pavlakis supermarket). The hotel felt like an oasis, gorgeous pool area (beautiful flowers and a pair of swallows that sang!) and quiet. It wasn't too busy due to the time of year I think, so we had the pool to ourselves a lot - there were 4 or 5 other groups/families that we saw most days). Breakfast is available and was very nice though we just had it on day 1 as we went to the shops for bread etc after that. Room had plenty of fridge space, small freezer, 2-ring electric hob and a microwave-everything we needed. Overall we loved Apollon and the family and staff working there were great, made us very welcome and comfortable.

Great holiday, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and bright, Great atmosphere, met some lovely people , would recommend this hotel to anyone. It has a lovely pool area with plenty of sun beds.

Second time here, fantastic staff, always helpfull. Again found the accommodation to be a good standard. Met some great people staying there be it chatting by the pool, having a drink in the bar or meeting up for a meal at the local Taverna. A special mention to Jack the bar man, a great guy. All in all would highly recommend the Apollo apartments for a very chilled relaxing holiday.

Arrived early hours of the morning a day late because of the flight problems, no one was there to check us in but I won't waffle on about who was to blame for that, got to bed eventualy at about 4am! Happy with our room, big enough, we spend most of our time on balcony anyway or out & about. Beds were comfy. Self catering facilities were enough for us, ( on holiday I refuse to cook! ) maybe a toaster would be handy? Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean, bedding & towels changed about 5 times in 2 weeks. Bins emptied every 2 days. Never saw one mouse, rat or cockroach the whole time we were there like other people have mentioned. The hotel is situated in a residential area so there is some noise mainly in the evening from local families and kids as other people have said. The walk down to town takes 10-15 mins but it is uphill on the way back which can be hard work if its hot but there's plenty of taxis about! I think the hotel could do with more staff because there are times when there is one person running the bar and reception which I've never come across before so they are run off there feet especially when having to do food too. Would I stay there again? 🤔 I definitely would if I wanted a cheap week away in the sun, but I've never stayed anywhere twice in the same place as I like seeing new places and visiting new areas.
