Cretan Sun

My Sister and I stayed for 3 weeks. The accommodation is basic, (what we expect in Greece) clean and comfortable. Rooms cleaned, sheets and towels changed, every other day. It provides all you need, in a great location, only 5 minutes from some great Tavernas and 10 minutes from the beach. Great value for money, booked through EasyJet. All the staff are friendly and helpful. A great family run business. Well done Cretan Sun.

Reception wasn't open on arrival in the early hours. Our 2 bedroom apartment had been swapped for a room with 4 single beds which was baking hot with no air con. Our room was changed the following afternoon. Our 2 bed apartment was not big enough for 2 adults and 2 teenage children but I was advised by reception that the apartments were all the same. Room 209. There was a small double in the same room as kitchenette with no space to walk around the bed. There was nowhere to sit in the apartment other than the beds and no table or chairs to eat at other than on the balcony (which was small). The kitchen facilities were limited it was difficult to cook a meal on 2 rings and there wasn't a toaster. The people who ran the hotel were generally really lovely and relaxed and the place was kept very clean. Pool area was good and always a sunbed available. Disappointed with what we paid for a "budget" Easyjet holiday. School holiday prices are never cheap. The last number of years I've booked accommodation independently and will definitely revert to doing that to ensure I know exactly what I'm going to get before we arrive.

We have just spent 8 nights here and couldn’t recommend this spot more for couples looking for a chilled getaway to Crete. Dimitri and team went above and beyond to give us information, recommendations and tips for our stay - meaning we got to try some of the best restaurants locally and in Rethymno. The rooms are basic but spacious and well equipped. The hotel is really clean and tidy, with our room being cleaned every other day, and the pool and communal areas cleaned daily (and left pristine)! As we came out of the peak of the season, the vibe was really chilled and relaxed, with a nice friendly atmosphere between guests. There were plenty of sun loungers and tables to go around during the day and some days we had the pool to ourselves, which felt like a little luxury! The hotel is really well located, with the nearby ‘*****’ of bars and restaurants a 5 minute walk away. There is plenty of choice and lots of options to explore. The beach is also within walking distance, 10 minutes or so from the hotel depending how far along you’d like to go. There’s a great selection of beach front bars and restaurants during the day too. We travelled into Rethymno a few times and found this really simple - a local bus stop is 5 mins away and taxis to and from cost roughly €10. Overall we couldn’t recommend Cretan Sun and their fabulous staff more highly. They really made our trip so easy and relaxing!

We have just spent 10 nights at this lovely hotel. Firstly you are welcomed by wonderful staff. Checked in to our room. The rooms are basic, but have everything we needed, as we enjoy eating out every evening. Beds are comfy and rooms are well kept. The air con is super cold! Which was amazing when temperatures hit 37° some days, well worth the extra money! Breakfast is lovely! Great variety. The food can go fast, but the wonderful staff work hard and get it replaced. The staff called us taxis, so we could visit the Old Town, which is about €12, which is worth a visit. It's a 5 minute walk to the beach, and just behind is a fantastic restaurant, also many wonderful restaurants and shops also 5 minutes walk. We would always come back to a few beers back at the bar, which again is very well priced, and really nice staff at the bar. Pool is lovely, and well kept, our kids are 11 and 13, and they were happy spending morning in the pool. All in all, the hotel and holiday were perfect! Would 100% recommend!

Myself and my family including 3 young children had an absolutely fabulous time. It is a lovely family run hotel with the nicest people you could possibly meet. They were friendly and welcoming. The view from our balcony was a gorgeous pool view on the second floor my father’s room was a gorgeous view of the mountains with a small farm beneath. With a short 7 minute walk to the Lidl and to the beach and restaurants in the opposite direction. Manus and Dimitri among others were so welcoming and our rooms were cleaned thoroughly. My children absolutely loved their stay and have asked when we are going back. We definitely have plans to return in future. The poolside food consists of burgers, salads, incredible pizza’s and all for a fair price.

If you're after a family friendly, traditional hotel/appartments then this is the place for you. On 3 floors around the pool my room was looking out over the small farm opposite, olive groves and the mountains beyond. Nice clean basic room with the usual kitchenette etc. Easy to make pasta dishes and salads etc. Nice breakfast, again Greek, fresh fruit, cheese etc. Nice pool bar with well priced snacks. Huge Greek salad for lunch at a little over 6 euros. Bar open until around midnight but very quiet. Lovely warm staff, all family, and just a short walk into the main town or good eateries a minutes walk away up the hill. If you're with younger children I'd highly recommend this accommodation and also this resort. Not too busy even in August. No rush for the loungers either, they have plenty. Excellent.

A lovely experience altogether. A family run hotel with staff that were extremely kind. Fantastic value for money, and an unexpectedly delicious breakfast. After our third day, my partner and I stopped going out for breakfast because the food in the hotel was so good. It's a very quick walk into the town (about 2 minutes) but just hidden away enough that it's not noisy or overwhelming. Emanuel in particular was very kind to us. Would definitely stay again. Side Note - I would be careful of not closing the balcony door behind you, as they lock from the outside. This became apparent once my partner and I accidentally locked ourselves out, leading to a group of swedes having to rescue us.

Lovely family run hotel, spotlessly clean beds changed every 2nd day, staff so friendly, ideal location 5 mins walk to shops tavernas or 10 min taxi to rethymnon. We can't wait to come back. Room was spacious for a family of 5 with huge balcony.

Amazing and wonderful staff, with a delicious breakfast options with a clean pool and rooms that are spotless. We enjoyed our stay here and there is a beautiful beach less than a few minutes away! Can say without a doubt it is the perfect hotel for a stay in Rethymno!
