Hôtel Sainte-Anne

The staff members were exceptional, welcoming, helpful, responsive and enthusiastic. This gem of a hotel is convenient (diagonally across from the Frontenac and a short walk to the finicular) with boutique- designed and well equipped rooms. It is in the heart of the old city of Quebec within walking distance of attractions (IN the German Christmas Market site) and eateries. My second visit to this gem assured a third!

Sehr zufrieden.
Hotel Champlain

The junior suite was a nice size, the bed was comfy, and the view was pretty. We had no noise issues, neither within the hotel or from the neighbourhood, it’s on a quiet side street right in Old Quebec - perfect location! Definitely appreciated the parking, although I’m very glad we took the small car. The room was a little shabby, stained carpet, mould in the bathroom, decor that seemed like an assembly of randomly purchased surplus items from a liquidation sale. The bathroom was super small! The lack of coffee maker was something we came prepared for, we brought our own, but it was a pain to unpack the car because the elevator was extremely slow. We were told at check in that we had to notify the front desk before noon any day that we wanted housekeeping. Any time we stopped at the desk to make this request it seemed like we were bothering the staff or otherwise doing something wrong. The electrical in the room was kinda scary. There were several light switches that didn’t do anything and the fireplace switches were backward (off was on, on was off) and my husband got a shock (big flash, loud bang) off the fireplace. We let the front desk know about the arcing fireplace, they again seemed annoyed but said they’d call maintenance. When we returned a couple hours later, maintenance had turned the fireplace on high and the furnace was cranked to 29 degrees Celsius. The room was boiling! We didn’t say the room was cold, didn’t mention a problem with the furnace, just wanted to let them know the fireplace electrocuted my husband. Not sure why they cranked the heat to tropical levels.

Upon arriving in our room on the ground floor, we found it to be quite hot. However, we thought that maybe the A/C had been turned off, so we turned it on and hoped that it would cool off. We set off to explore a bit. On our return, the room seemed even hotter, and we had a night of very little sleep due to extreme heat. The air conditioning was letting out a tiny bit of cool air that could only be felt by lying on one side of one of the beds. In the morning, we contacted the off site staff, and said that the air conditioning appeared to not be working properly, and stated that we had experienced an awful night of no sleep. We asked if they could at least find a fan, and have somebody look at the unit. We were told that they would look for a fan. By late afternoon, my son, walked back to the hotel for a nap, and the room was unbearable. There was no fan delivered. When the rest of us returned, we were shocked with the heat, and literally sat with cold cloths on our heads attempting to keep ourselves cool. We immediately tried to contact the off site staff again. Response was slow, and when we finally heard back, we were told that they couldn’t find a fan. My husband said that there was no way that we could stay in the room with the temperature the way it was, and asked would they be able to move us. The lady we spoke to said she would call back in 5 minutes to either change rooms, or move us to one of their other properties. Great we thought. However, no phone call came, only a text to say that they couldn’t move us anywhere and that they could refund us but could be of no further help. Although we appreciated the refund, the hotel had all day to deal with this issue, but couldn’t even find a fan. This left us, on our vacation, spending time trying to relocate. Thank God we found somewhere, but we specifically chose the St. Pierre due to its location, and we are now considerably further away. I rate this hotel 2/10 for customer service. They were not quick to respond, and we felt they should have called us back and offered a personal apology rather than a terse text of “so sorry”. Would definitely not stay again

The hotel is reasonably priced and located centrally. The rooms are clean and spacious. We took room with Two queen beds but the beds were not comfortable enough for two adults. The Front desk check in was expeditious and housekeeping was good. The Breakfast costs $10 per person but we skipped and went to local restaurants which are walkable distance of 15 to 30 minutes. The ambience is peaceful. The hotel has no parking and you have to either take their help for parking at a price or park at a nearby paid parking place on your own. We used a parking place on the right ( on exit) of the Hotel which was reasonably priced for whole day parking( in open). It was a pleasant experience, intertwined with our local sight seeing at Quebec.
